This case study shows the work which was made by me Atdhe Buja during the last project study
in Master Computer Science and Engineering degree, before i choose Master Thesis. This pilot
project helps me to choose the right master thesis for this i want to thank my professor PhD.
Petrit Shala for everything supports me on this project, professional advice. This project was a
very good experience for about 3 months.
The first thing on this project is hardware infrastructure main components of the Data Center are
environmental controls, data communications connections, redundant power supplies and
security devices.
Servers
Servers deployed in the data center today are either full featured and equipped rack-mount
servers or blade servers.
Storage
Storage requirements vary by server type. Application servers require much less storage than
database servers. There are several storage options: DAS, NAS, SAN.
Connectivity
The networking component provides connectivity to the data center, for example L2/L3 switches
and WAN routers. As stated earlier, motivated by server virtualization, data center connectivity
design is moving to network virtualization.
High Availability Requirements
High Availability (HA) is crucial to data center networks. Data center failure costs include both
revenue lost and business creditability. System availability is simply calculated by “system
uptime” divided by “total time.”
Environmental Considerations
Several environmental considerations exist within the TIA-942/ANSI telecommunications
infrastructure data center standard that are similar to the equipment room requirements set forth
in previous TIA standards.

The following list are presented technical, that i had to have to achieve first objective hardware
infrastructure.
Needs for this Test Environment:
HP Rack 42U
Network Switch
Network Cable
UPS system
KVM Monitor
Servers
4 (four) servers and 1 (one) Storage, are configured following services with:
o SharePoint 2010
o SQL Server 2012
o Windows Hyper-V
o Citrix services

connectivity for both applications and IP storage – iSCSI or NFS attached.
Conclusion
Each of the components of the data center and its supporting systems must be planned, designed,
and implemented to work together to ensure reliable access of data center resources while
supporting future requirements. Neglecting any aspect of the design can render the data center
intolerable availability.
