and technology including modern biotech

There is an integral link between the

structure of civic life in a multi-ethnic society

on the one hand and the presence or

absence of ethnic or communal violence on

the other To illustrate these links two

interconnected arguments are made First

inter-ethnic or inter-communal and intra-

ethnic or intra-communal networks of civic

engagement play very different roles

Because they build bridges and manage

tensions across groups inter-ethnic networks

are agents of peace But if communities are
