Terry Fox School Run
Our annual Terry Fox School Run was held on September
26. Students and staff participated in this great event by
running or walking, and raising funds for cancer research.
Grades 6 to 8 students ran for Terry Fox at nearby
Highgate Park. Our goal this year is to raise over $13,000!
Thank you students, parents, and staff for your generous
support! Pledge forms and donations are due to the class
teacher by Wednesday, October 9.

ATTENTION ALL DRIVERS
We ask for the cooperation of all drivers in our school

children safe by using care and caution while driving.
• Obey all traffic regulations and signs.
• Do not drive fast. SLOW DOWN!
• Be nice! Give the right of way to others.

High School, University, and IB Information Session On October 1st, there will be an important Information Session at the school for parents and students at 4:30 p.m. in
the Main Gym. The presentation will provide an overview of the TCPS High School and IB programmes for grades 6 to

Student Vote
Student Vote is a parallel election for students under the voting age, coinciding with official
election periods. The purpose is to provide young Canadians with an opportunity to experience the
democratic process firsthand and practice the habits of informed and engaged citizenship. Students in
grades 5 to 8 will cast votes via ballot boxes set up in the front foyer from October 15 to 17. The TCPS
Student Ambassadors will count the votes, after which TCPS election results will be reported to
Elections Canada Student Vote.
TCPS Student Ambassadors
We would like to introduce our TCPS Student Ambassadors!
Ethan A., Ethan B., Jack, Nasreen, Matthew, Tisya, Sajan, and
Anika are all grade 8 TCPS students who were selected as
volunteers for this program, having demonstrated an ability for
public speaking in TED Talks last year. As part of their role, the
TCPS Student Ambassadors will attend Open Houses, conduct
tours and answer questions based on their TCPS experience.
Congratulations on their role as TCPS Student Ambassadors!
School Uniform
By October 1st, students should be wearing the proper school uniform and proper school shoes, and looking their best
while wearing the uniform. The uniform, if worn well, helps students to develop presentation skills, a sense of self
discipline, and an ability to command respect. We want our students to wear the school uniform to convey their pride
in being a member of Town Centre Private Schools. Thank you for your cooperation with the following expectations:
• All uniform items must be official TCPS uniform items purchased from InSchoolwear. Substitutions not permitted.
• The uniform needs to be clean, washed regularly, and worn neatly with shirts tucked in.
• All items that are in poor condition must be replaced, including school sweaters with holes or worn out elbows.
• Uniform items that are too small need to be replaced, especially pants with hems that are too short.
• Students should wear grey socks (not black socks, not white socks for gym) with grey uniform pants.
• Black running shoes are not approved school uniform shoes.
• Girls slippers or ornamental party shoes are not approved school uniform shoes.
• Students who wear orthotics must have a doctor’s note to wear unapproved school shoes.
• Label all your child’s uniform items with your child’s name.
• A Lost and Found box is located in the Main Office.
No Black socks.
White gym socks are for gym.
YES! Grey socks with pants.
These pants are
too short!
It’s time to get a
new sweater!
Black running shoes
are not school shoes.
Slippers or party shoes

Spirit Week
Thank you to the TCPS students, parents and staff for an amazing Spirit Week! From September 23 to 27, our students
participated in a week full of fun activities like Manic Monday, Toonie and Tourist Tuesday, and Wacky Wednesday,
Jers-day Thursday, and Fantastic Friday. On Toonie Tuesday, students donated $1609.00 in Toonies to the Terry Fox
Foundation! The highlight of the Spirit Week was the Silly String Showdown as students sprayed silly string onto lucky
staff members who were great sports for a great cause! Students were assigned to TCPS House League Teams:
Yellow Gryphons, Red Phoenix, Green Dragons, and Blue Thunderbirds, and were given T-Shirts.
Throughout the year, students should wear these team T-Shirts for future House League event days like Intramurals.
Thank you to all the students, parents and staff for collectively supporting the Terry Fox Foundation!

Halloween Activities
Thursday, October 31, is Halloween day at TCPS. Grades 2 to 8 students are welcome to wear a costume to
school. Please note that toy weapons are not permitted in the school. It is recommended that students bring a
change of clothes in case they would like to take off their costume during the day. Students who do not wish to
wear a costume may wear casual clothes for the day. Parents are reminded that no After School Courses are
scheduled for Thursday, October 31.
A sign up sheet will be posted outside each classroom door and parents are welcome to sign up for food items
to be donated for lunch. Parents are reminded that lunch time starts at 11:45 a.m. For allergy reasons an ingre-
dient list must accompany all food items which are being brought in for the class.
Elementary classes will also participate in our annual pumpkin carving contest. Parents are invited to view all the
marvelous pumpkins which will be on display in our front foyer beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29,
and will remain on display until the morning of Thursday, October 31. Classes will raffle off the pumpkins for
students to take home! On Friday, October 25, the SAC will host their first event of the year, the grades 6 to 8 Halloween Howl from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. More information about this exciting evening will be provided soon!
PIZZA DELIVERY
If you order pizza to be delivered to school, please ensure that the driver has your
CHILD’S first and last name and classroom number, as the school will receive a large
number of pizza deliveries on party days. Please pre-pay for your order and notify the Main
Office of pizza deliveries. Parents are reminded that lunch time starts at 11:45 a.m.

Bark Lake Trip for Grade 9 TCPS High School Students
An important fall tradition at Town Centre is the grade 9 Bark Lake trip. This year, our
grade 9 students left bright and early on the morning of September 11 to travel to the
Haliburton Highlands for 3 days of outdoor education and team building activities. The
weather was excellent this year and our grade 9’s were able to take part in the full range
of hiking, high ropes and archery activities that have made the Bark Lake trip a truly
memorable experience for all our students.
