ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE AT OLIVER WYMAN
Oliver Wyman has an entrepreneurial culture which gives every new employee the opportunity to gain
exposure to global clients, collaborate with industry experts and our own senior Partners and thus paves
the way for them to become a Partner without having to leave the firm to get an advanced degree.
The internal culture at Oliver Wyman is such that “new hires are treated as potential partners from Day
One, assigned high-impact roles on complex cases, have direct client exposure and the opportunity to
bring tangible benefits to our clients”
They follow a collaborative and non-hierarchical structure which means that the ideas put forth by an
employee is given due weightage. They are required to brainstorm and debate the best minds and
champions from the industry. Due to the diverse culture at the workplace, one will spend time with
dynamic and smart people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.
In Oliver Wyman, most of the best internal programs and initiatives – from employee resource groups to
upward reviews of managers to firm-wide information sharing networks have been suggested from
consultants of Oliver Wyman itself. Hence one has a chance to make an impact on the business of
OLIVER WYMAN also.
The areas where Oliver Wyman lays stress upon for any new employee are
Specialized industry and functional expertise
Rigorous, proven strategy and operational improvement methodologies
Collaborative working style
Agenda-setting research
Work-life balance
“Ask any of our colleagues why they chose Oliver Wyman and the same sentiment is repeated again
and again: "It's the people." Other firms say it; at Oliver Wyman, we live it. “
The culture at Oliver Wyman is not pre-defined by any tradition or set rules as to how things should be
done or how one should work. Instead the culture is constantly changing, shaped, and rejuvenated by
the people who work at Oliver Wyman
At Oliver Wyman, a lot of focus is put on the healthy exchange of ideas, teamwork, and mutual
respect. The focus is more on the quality of output rather than quantity and do not encourage the
culture of "long hours for long hours' sake." Work life balance is a priority at the firm as the employees
are encouraged to pursue interests outside of work
Like any other consulting firm, the consultants work onsite with the clients for a project's entire lifecycle,
from strategy development to implementation. According to the firm, the quality of executing the
project and finally the implementation of the downstream change is bound to improve if the consultants
work shoulder-to-shoulder with clients. It is imperative that every consultant work with a commitment
to excel in the delivery of the project and should have a clear focus to help the clients achieve tangible
results.
The internal culture is conducive to consultants “devising and leading initiatives” no matter at which
part of the world they are working. There is an environment of meritocracy where the where the best
ones can rise to the top, such as when a group of our consultants built an online Innovation Forum to
gather the strongest ideas and help facilitate their implementation.
WHAT MAKES OLIVER WYMAN DIFFERENT?
Diversity and inclusion enables Oliver Wyman to continuously attract and retain exceptional people and
creates a culture that takes in the differences and perspectives of people coming from diverse

racial and ethnic diversity
