Relieving Principal’s News

The NSW Teachers Federation has

announced it will hold a one hour stop

work meeting of school teachers and

non-based Teaching Service (OCAA)

members on Thursday 8th

December

2016 (tomorrow) from 8.30am. The

purpose of the stop work meeting is for Federation

member’s to debate and vote on the proposed Crown

Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related

Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2016. On

this occasion, the school will remain operational and

there will be ample staff to supervise. Swim School

and Presentation Night preparations will run as normal.

Yesterday Mrs Steward, Mrs Fisher and I attended the

launch of the Learning Management and Business

Reform (LMBR). LMBR is a new financial and student

management system which will replace our very

outdated OASIS system. Our school is part of Group 5

Deployment and our training will commence next year.

We aim to have this fully operational by 22nd

May

2017. As part of this new system, it will provide

opportunity for parents to make payments for school

expenses online. We will also have provisions for

parents to pay for larger expenses, like excursions, in

instalments. More information on training dates and

information nights for parents and staff, will be

forthcoming next year. Exciting and busy times ahead!

Our students have been busy practising their item for

Presentation Evening. If you are not intending to

attend Presentation Night with your child on Monday

12th

December, can you please advise staff as soon as

possible. This will ensure our roles in the play are

covered.

Tomorrow evening is our Year Six Farewell Dinner. This

was a lovely evening last year and it gave our Year Six

students an evening to celebrate their final year at

Matong Public School, a time to reflect on the time

that they have spent here and the friends they have

shared many memories with. Parents are invited to

come and share some of those memories with their

children when we watch a Power Point presentation

from 7:30pm onwards. The Year Six students and staff

are looking forward to the evening and hope to have

some photos to share in our final newsletter for the

year.

Next Wednesday we are having our ‘Messy Christmas’

and our ‘Thank You For Helping’ afternoon tea. While

we appreciate how busy everyone is at the moment it

would be lovely to catch up with as many of you who

are able to make it.

With increased traffic on our roads, particularly trucks

due to harvest, please be vigilant and travel safe.

Enjoy what is left of the week and remember to stop,

breathe and be kind to yourselves.

Kind regards,

Tracy Delaney

School Spectacular Report by Jaylene

Last week I left school to go to the Central Coast to

stay at my Nan’s for two nights; once I arrived I was

very tired so I went to bed. The next day I went to my

cousin’s house, I got to do tricks on the trampoline

with them; I got a small hair cut by my Auntie because

she is a hairdresser. Then I went back to my Nan’s

house and I had dinner then went to bed.

The next morning I got dressed in fully black clothes

and my “Dream Big” rehearsal shirt and I left early to

go to Sydney. Mum dropped me off at my rehearsal

place; of course it wasn’t where we were performing, I

had mostly all day practising my singing; we had to

sing 40 songs that we were performing. After that I

walked back to my hotel it was called “Ibis” it wasn’t a

far walk.

The next day I had another rehearsal at the arena

where we were performing, we were practising our

dances for onstage; some were off stage and some

were on. There were six tunnels leading to the stage, it

was an amazing practise there were a lot of stairs to go

down and back up to the stage. When we performed

we had props - there was a red torch, normal white

torch, a necklace that has lights on it, glow sticks for

Star Wars, a yellow fabric thing, funny giraffe ears and

other interesting things. At the end of the performance

we had a final song and we went crazy in a good way!

We were told we beat a record in the “Guinness Book

of Records”.

I had two t-shirts to wear, a white one for

performances, so the light looks cool on our shirts and

a black shirt for our rehearsals. On the last night I

stayed at a great hotel in Liverpool.

On Sunday I went to the pool with my netball friends

and I was very tired after that.

Our final Story time for the year will be held on Friday,

16th

December - theme will be “Xmas” at 10.30am. A

small party will conclude the story time for the year

and a very special guest will be appearing as well.

Everyone is most welcome to attend.

Our “Food for Fines” campaign is on again this year at

the Coolamon Library. This is a great opportunity to

clear all outstanding fines by donating non-perishable

then distribute the food to our local families within our

shire.

The library is taking names to join a book club. A book

club is for anyone who loves to read a varied selection

of books and meet with others to chat about them.

The library provides ten copies of one title plus

background notes and discussion questions. For

further details please phone the library - 69272492
