Term 4 20th November 2019 Learning for the future Ahuwhenua – Manaakitia – Manamotuhake – Manawanui - Hiranga Kia ora, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Kia orana, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Malo ni, Bula, Greetings… Welcome to Week 6, Term 4! Oh no! Only one more panui to go after this one, which means the school year is coming to an end. Speaking of Newsletters / Panui… Next year we are going paperless so if you want a newsletter, you can come into the office every even week of a school term (Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10) on a Wednesday and ask for one to be printed. If that isn’t convenient for you, you could text the office and request a paper copy to be sent home that day, or you could ask for it to be emailed as well. It is of course in an effort to reduce paper. We will give you details early in the new school year. Swimming Our pool is up and running this week and an incredible amount of work has gone into it for it to be at the standard it is. Our caretaker is a very special and talented man. His depth of skills and capabilities is exceptional. He saves the school major dollars, which adds to more for our students. He has single handedly prepared and painted the pool so that our students swim in pristine water. It is a facility we can be so proud of and all credit goes to Mr Gow!! Thank you Mr Gow, you are the best!! Toys at School Please can we state that toys must not come to school. I know that you may not always know they have come to school, but when they get lost it takes time to try to find them and quite often we are not successful in doing so. The heartbreak is really hard to witness, so in order to eliminate that, please make school a ‘no toy from home’ zone. Feedback Sheets Our Office Administrator has emailed out a Feedback Sheet to those parents and caregivers whose email addresses we have. It has three points: 1.How happy are you with the school? 1. Not 3. Okay 5. Good 7. Very Good 10. Great Answer = 2. What could we improve on? 3. Any other comments you would like to make? If you would like to fill in a copy at the office, please call in and our office team will give you one. Your feedback is truly appreciated. If we don't get it back we can only assume you are content with the school. However, if you are unhappy or do have suggestions then this is your chance to influence and support change. If you want to ring the school and give your response you are able to do that as well. Please phone the school on 435 1482. Mr Tim Burke The staff at Kamo Primary School wish to congratulate Mr Tim Burke in Room 4, as he has been appointed the new Deputy Principal at Maungatapere School. He takes up this position at the start of the new 2020 school year. Mr Burke has been a great member of the team and has been responsible for all the sports events we have for years, as well as being a classroom teacher. While we are sad to see him go, we are also very proud and wish him all the best in the future. Support Staff Thank you for all the toots and comments last week for our amazing support staff. I know they appreciated it and I know we all agree they deserve an increase in income! Here’s hoping the union can get this over the line!
