Term 3 Week 9 Edition
Possible Reduction in School Canteen
opening hours
Today’s newsletter comes to you from
both the president of the P&C, Rebecca
Dalton and myself. The school canteen is
a service provided and managed by the
P&C and we are writing this letter to
inform our school community of the
possibility of our school canteen having
to drop to opening only 3 days a week,
instead of the 5 days it is currently open.
Despite the efforts of many people to
find cost cutting solutions, the canteen
has been running at a loss. This is not
anyone’s fault but is due to consistently
increasing running costs e.g. wages, food,
freight etc. The canteen has been
subsidised by the P&C at approx. $2000 -
$3000 per year for at least the last 5
years. However, the P&C feel that maybe
the funds they are raising could be better
utilised to provide classroom and / or
educational resources.
.
Have your say! We need the school community’s input and ideas as to what to do about this predicament. Below is a link to a website or QR code where you can make suggestions and answer a few survey questions, so we can work together to find an amicable solution

The P & C require helpers to set up and serve at both the afternoon and evening sessions. We are hoping to organise a roster for helpers.
We are asking for donations of cakes, slices etc.
Themed items would be ideal. Some ideas are:

Scones with rose petal jam and cream
Beast choc chip muffins
Oreo rose lollypops
The Grey Stuff
Please contact the school office or Rebecca Dalton 69676244 if you’re able to help in any way.
Year 11 RAP PDHPE
Excursion
Five Year 11 PDHPE students participating in RAP spent a night camping and abseiling down cliff faces through Cocoparra National Park and hiking to the top of Mt Brogan. This excursion was to support their learning during their Outdoor Recreation unit.
It was great to see the RAP students coming together and we are sure plenty of memories were made during the camp.

Appreciating The Arts
Year 1/2/3 attended the theatre last
Wednesday to watch Little Red Racing
Hood. Appreciation of the Arts is an
important part of learning at HCS. We
finished with lunch and a play at City
Park which challenged our cognitive
problem solving skills to ascend the
pyramid to get to the slide. Lots of fun
was had by all.
Year 9 PDHPE
This term Year 9 has been doing
Gymnastics and practicing balances on
the floor and on the beam. Our
pyramid that we created is below. We
have also been doing archery as part of
our Taking Aim Unit. Will Knight is this
year’s Robin Hood scoring a Bullseye!
He also won our points challenge with
33 points, Delcie Coonan came second
with 21, then Luke Mott 18, Blake Dakin
16, Gene Rixon 11. We were all excited
just to hit the board and wanted to have
our pictures taken to show our
achievements.

Thursday matinée – arrive at 12 noon for 1 pm performance, normal school home time
Thursday Night – 6pm for 7pm performance pick up 9pm
Friday night - 6pm for 7pm performance pick up 9pm
If your child is unable to attend all/any of the performances, it is important that they let their class teacher know so

purchase at intermission if needed.
On the next page you will find a table outlining additional costume requirements, props and the hair and make-up
needs for each character. Please ensure that your child arrives at the Community Hall ready to go, this will make it
quicker and easier for the hair and make-up team. If you have any issues with your child’s requirements, please
