WALK the MARATHON or RIDE 50km CYCLE RACE
Use the matching PDFs ( marathon or cycle race ) or ask your teacher for a copy. Use the sheet to work
out how far you cycle/walk etc and monitor your progress using the
chart. When you‛re finished the race, hand it in, digitally or glued into
your Homework book.
MINECRAFT WALK-THRU
Choose a world famous building or landmark to re-create in Creative
mode. Think about colours,
dimensions, outside and inside the building. You can provide a
walk-thru by providing a video with voice over
OR in Comic Life. Pages or Pic Collage provide a variety of
screenshots to illustrate different angles with captions.
DESIGN A DREAM AREA Choose a part of the school
that you would like to design in more detail, e.g. a
playground area, the inside of a learning space, the library,
Mrs Fowler‛s office etc. You could either draw a bird‛s
eye view (from above), OR make a diorama OR build it out of Lego. Then
label the areas, and write about what would happen in each area.

PARLEZ VOUS ANGLAIS…? Learn some common phrases in another language. Pretend you were to travel overseas - what phrases would you need to be
able to say? Record them and the English translation too, and be
ready to share! You could make a video of yourself
speaking the language, or create a phrase-book for
tourists.
NO AUTOGRAPHS PLEASE…!
Pretend you are a famous person (either a celebrity or a famous
person from history). Dress up as the person and take some photos
of yourself doing some of the things they would do.
Write captions to explain your
photos.
KAHOOT! Go to https://getkahoot.com , create an account (check with parents first) and create a 10
question quiz for your classmates.
You can choose the topic, as long as it‛s something you‛ve
been learning about, e.g., Maths quiz, a book quiz,
Inquiry quiz, word definition quiz etc. Share the URL of your
quiz with your teacher.

INVENT IT You can either research an
invention from history, or design an invention of your own to make the world a better place. Draw
the design if it is a physical object, or you could even create a small model of your invention.
Write what the effects were (or would be) of the invention -
positive or negative.
THERE ARE TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY
Find out about something that people disagree about at the
moment (e.g. in the news). Research about what both sides
think and believe. You can either summarise the issue from both sides, or take one side and write a speech to persuade
your listeners of one point of view. Be ready to share why you believe
this! http://kiwikidsnews.co.nz/ has
some great articles for kids.
CULTURE STUDY
Find out about a country you are interested in, e.g., what the main language is, what
foods are popular, population, religious beliefs,, what the country is famous for etc.
You could interview a person who comes from that country to find out more about it if you like. Learn about what it would be like to live in that
country.

GLOBETROTTING Plan for a trip, within Auckland, around NZ or around the world.
Find flights or transport (including dates), accommodation, activities. How much would all of this cost?
How many people (adults and children) are going? Remember you
need to eat too! You could take photos or draw
what your holiday might involve OR create a spreadsheet to list costs.
HOW ‘THE OTHER HALF‛ LIVES
Find out about the lifestyle of either people who are extremely
rich, or extremely poor. Find out about what sort of things
people spend money on, what people do with their time, where
they live, etc. Be creative in how you present
your work.
INTERVIEW TIME
Talk to someone who does a job you are interested in and ask
questions to find out what the job involves.
What sort of things did they study? What skills do they
need? What do they enjoy, or not, about their job?

RIDDLE-ICULOUS Find some riddles or brain
teasers to share with the class, and practise presenting them.
You might like to present this on a Google Slide, or simply write them in your homework book.
WILL IT MOULD? Conduct an experiment to see what
happens when food is left out. (Make sure you have your parent‛s
permission!) Choose a few pieces of the same
food to be part of your experiment. Keep them in a
closed, clear lunch box, and check each day to see
what has happened.
Take photos and write about what you see happening every few days.
VIDEO-RAMA Find a Youtube clip about
something you are interested in. Insert the video into your blog, and post questions for
people to answer. Your questions could ask
people for their opinion about the video, or quiz whether
then were watching carefully and understood what the
video was about!

CREATE A HEALTH SURVEY
Create a survey using Google Forms, to ask your friends and
family some questions about health. Ask them at least 6
questions, and then collect the information.
Do you want to find out what they do to keep healthy? What food they try to eat (or
not eat), health habits they have
(exercise, vitamins, sleep), why they do or do not go to visit the doctor frequently?
LIFE HACKS
Find some shortcuts to make every day tasks easier, or to use things
in a different way. Get some ideas from YouTube to
start you off - life hacks for kids.
Choose a creative way to share your learning.
