Dear Parents and Children,

As we prepare to celebrate a hard term’s work by commencing school holidays, it gives me great pleasure

to congratulate Max Caputo for being selected in the 12 Years and Under State Football (Soccer) Team.

This is a significant achievement for Max and he will share the honour with past St. Monica’s student Max

Kyrsinski (Year 6 2016). Congratulations and best wishes; no doubt the holidays will be all about training!

Use of Photographs School Volunteers and Those Undertaking ‘Child Connected Works In accordance with the School’s ‘Child Safety Code of Conduct’ members of the school community

undertaking ‘Child Connected Works’ (refer to the definitions section) are:

Not permitted to photograph / video a student or young person under any circumstances. All photographs /

videos will be taken by the supervising teacher.

Where a volunteer is suspected of breaching this obligation the school will take immediate action to

address the concern. Where deemed appropriate, this may be referred to Victoria Police.

School Performances, Assemblies, Sporting and Other Sanctioned School Events St Monica’s Primary School allows members of the school community to take photographs and videos of

their children at school assemblies, class presentations, performances, sporting events etc….

In accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic), Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) and

Education Department guidelines, members of the school community are restricted to only photograph /

video their children. These images must not be published on social media or in any other form without the

prior consent of parents and guardians whose children may unintentionally appear in the images.

The school does not permit any member of the school community or invited guest to take photographs /

videos of the annual school production. Note: The school does not own or control any photographs or

video taken by members of the school community or invited guests.

Photography Reminder The text above is an excerpt from our Child Safety Code of Conduct and has been printed to remind all

families that taking videos and photos of the children is acceptable at this school, provided that ‘still shots’

or ‘videos’ taken during school assemblies/events that feature children other than your own are not

uploaded to Social Media. There are a significant number of parents who have specifically requested that

their children do not feature anywhere on Social Media sites, such as: Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram etc.

Some schools ban all photographs on site but we do not wish to implement this at our school. We want all

parents to be able to capture their children’s achievements and memories, but there is a reciprocal

responsibility that each parent has to every other parent—and that is: these images must not be uploaded to

social media sites.

Grandparents and Special People Day

Do you remember meeting Charlie Bucket’s

Grandparents in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

Everyone loves Grandparents!

We’d like to meet the children’s Grandparents and

any other special people in their lives.

When: 26th July, commencing with our Whole School Mass at 9:15am.

Family members and visitors will be able to visit the classrooms and then enjoy morning tea in the Symons

Centre. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Let Your Light Shine No-one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the

house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory

to God in heaven. Mt. 5:15-16

Julie Bibby appeared on

Who Wants to Be a

Millionaire (20 June)

and won $100,000!

On the weekend Angus completed a 40 kilometre bike ride as part of the "Melburn

Roobaix" (no, that's not a typo). The Melburn Roobaix is a fun take on the Paris-Roubaix

professional bike ride which is known for its rough terrain. The Melbourne version covers a

random course around the north/east of Melbourne over all the cobblestone sections of

road. There are no prizes for speed, just the fun of participating.

behind the scenes to grow some plants to sell to raise money for the

Catholic Missions! Keep an eye on the newsletter as these will be

ready at the start of Term 3.

bacteria ... were plenty of engaged

visitors learning about the best way

to control the smell of your

runners ...which brand of bread

grows mould the fastest to ...even a

comparison of surfaces in one's

home compared to McDonalds!!

Well done, Year 6.
