CARPARK SAFETY JUNIOR A reminder that parents and carers are requested to use the marked street parking bays only around the school. Use of the staff car park and verge is strictly prohibited in the interests of the health and safety of our students. We ask that you support us in abiding by these simple rules to help us keep your children safe. I would also remind parents and carers to use the paths and not walk children through the car park areas before and after school. Thank you for your ongoing supporting and cooperation. ATTENDANCE & BEHAVIOUR Our aim at Thornlie Primary School is to reward the vast majority of students who consistently do the ‘right thing’. Last year we commenced a new whole school behaviour and reward system at our school. The same system will continue this year again. Children with an attendance rate of 80% or greater who have not received 3 red behaviour slips or a suspension during a term will be eligible for whole school behaviour and attendance rewards.

I am re-explaining this process again in the first few newsletters so that all parents and carers understand the behaviour and attendance reward system at our school. We take attendance and behaviour very seriously at Thornlie because it has a large impact on the teaching and learning program. I look forward to strong support again this year from parents, staff and students.

STUDENT PROGRESS During Term 1 classroom teachers may request a meeting to discuss your child’s academic program and needs for the year. I would also remind all parents/carers that they can contact the school at any time to request a meeting with their child’s teacher should they have a query or concern.

GOOD BEHAVIOUR REWARD

The Term 1 Whole School Behaviour Reward will be available to all students who have not received 3 Red Behaviour slips , a suspension and have an attendance rate of 80% or greater. Additionally students from the winning faction will receive a free icy pole for collecting the most positive behaviour faction tokens. Kind Regards

Lee Woodcock Principal

On Wednesday 23 March the P&C held an Easter Raffle using Easter chocolate donated by the students. Parents made an enormous contribution by offering their time and effort to wrap and make Easter baskets for raffle prizes. Thank you to all families for supporting this fundraiser. We raised nearly $700 for our school. Well done!
