Dean Rogers, Principal
Swimming Sports
You would have seen the pictures and report for the swimming sports last week.
I would like to congratulate everyone involved on the spirit of competition and
their participation throughout the day.
The event was even more noteworthy because it was the inaugural swimming
sports with two Houses instead of the four. Well done to Murray who won but
also well done to Loddon who came second by less than 10points! It goes to
show that putting your hand up, getting involved and competing in an event can
be the difference between winning and losing. A big thanks for Mrs Demaria for
her organisation.
Next week is interschool swimming sports and I wish everyone competing the
best of luck.
BlazeAid
I would like to draw the school community’s attention to an initiative put forward
by Mrs Krystal Grills and her Vet Agriculture class. They will be heading over near
Corryong on Thurs 27th February until Sunday 1st March to do 3 days of volunteer
fencing with Blaze Aid. They have also managed to get a truck load of hay
donated that they will be taking over with them. Mr Smith, Mrs Grills , ‘Grillsy’
and Stuart Keating are all going to lend a hand and supervise. This is a brilliant
opportunity for our students and should be quite a rewarding experience for
them. I look forward to the report and pictures.
Chaplaincy
Chaplaincy is up and running with the first committee meeting conducted last
week. The Chaplain (Michael) works to provide well- being assistance to the
school community. Michael is only able to do this with the support of the
Chaplaincy Committee and with this in mind I would like to extend an invitation
to all school community members to attend. Conversely you may not have the
time to commit to a meeting once a month but would still like to be involved in
some way. Other ways you could be involved in the Chaplaincy Committee is
always looking for volunteers to assist with functions and this invitation extends
to helping out here. Contact the school if you are wanting to help.

Year 7 Camp
Last week fifty nine Year 7 Students attended a three day camp at Camp Kookaburra. Students were broken into six groups and had the opportunity to participate in a variety of adventure activities including abseiling, flying fox, initiatives course, archery, low ropes course, indoor climbing, canoeing and raft building. Over the three days the students developed confidence and showcased outstanding teamwork skills. It was fabulous to see new friendships develop and students work on respecting themselves and others. For each activity, the groups earned points for their teamwork, effort and behaviour. Remarkably, there was 10 points separating the three teams at the completion of camp!
It was a pleasure to take the students away. I would like to thank Mr. Wishart, Mrs. Meaden, Mr. Morison, Mr. Oswin, Mr. Clark and Mrs. Champion for giving up their time to attend camp for the three days. Thankyou also to Mr. Henry and Mr. Rogers for visiting on Wednesday and Thursday.
A reminder, we would like to invite all families and students to school next Wednesday to view the camp photos and meet the teachers. To assist with catering, please send Miss Ferrier a XUNO message indicating how many members of your family will be attending.

Mobile phones, computers, tablets and gaming devices are a part of our lives. This Cyber world can give
us many advantages but it has a dark side as well. We need to be aware of Cyberbullying, the need to
protect privacy, too much time spent using the technology and access to offensive, inappropriate or
illegal content. If you are uncomfortable about something on the internet, please speak to an adult or
expert to deal with it.
There are people who will take advantage of you, so you need to be aware of your own cyber safety.
Never meet someone on the internet unless you know them in person. Think before you post, once you
press send, it’s in the cyber world forever and you can never get it back. Posts can come back at ‘bite’ you
when you least expect it. Always be kind when you post and you won’t get into trouble.
Cheers, Meg

As everyone is well aware Australia
has had a massive fire season this summer which has caused mass devastation in many
rural areas.
Next Thursday 27th February the VET Agriculture students, plus a couple of extra students
are heading over to Jingellic near a Corryong to do 3 days of volunteer fencing with Blaze
Aid. Mrs Grills has arranged to get a truck load of hay donated and also a truck to cart it
with, that her husband will be taking over with them.
Mr Smith, Mrs Grills and two other local volunteers are all going to lend a hand and help
lead our students on this recovery mission. This is a brilliant opportunity for our students
and should be quite a rewarding experience for them.
If anyone has anything they would like to donate towards this appeal (Gift cards etc) we
can take it over with us to give directly to the farmers in need.

Back to School Sleep Tips
After weeks of holidays, staying up late and sleep in’s – It can be difficult to
get your kid’s back into a sleep routine. Use the following tips to help your
child get back into their normal school sleeping pattern.
1. Keep electronic devices out of bedrooms: Phones, laptops, video games,
TV – Or have at least 1 hour before bed without devices.
2. Create a positive sleep environment: Cool, quiet, dimly lit and
comfortable.
3. Create a relaxing bedtime routine: This will be different depending on the
age of your child and individual preferences – Do what works best for you
and your family.
4. Healthy eating + physical activity: Make sure your children are having
healthy snacks and meals in their lunchbox. Also make sure they are
participating in at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day – walking,
running, bike riding, playing sport.
