Welcome Address

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are honored to announce the second East

Asian Symposium on Technology of Welding and Joining (EAST-WJ) is held in Japan, as

a symposium series co-organizing by Japan Welding Society (JWS), Korean Welding and

Joining Society (KWJS) and Chinese Welding Society (CWS). The first EAST-WJ was held in

Shanghai, China last year.

The objective of this symposium is to promote exchange of the scientific and

technological information in welding and joining field by researchers and experts from the

Asian three countries and the delegates from Asian welding federation (AWF) member

countries.

Now Asia is globally serving as an important region manufacturing and supplying industrial

products. The performance and/or the cost of the welding related products are much influenced

by combination of materials types, welding and joining processes, fabrication procedures and

so on, which have been improved and developed day by day. Then, we decided the symposium

theme to be “Innovations and Evolutions in Welding and Joining Technology for the Present

and the Future Manufacturing”. We believe that the discussions in 2nd EAST-WJ contribute to

progress of welding and joining technologies.

Organizing committee invite you to attend the 2nd EAST-WJ to be held concurrently

with the annual meeting of Japan Welding Society. We are looking forward to meeting you in

NARA, Japan.

Prof. Yoshinori HIRATA

Chairman of the organizing committee
