PAST TENSE
Simple
•To indicate pas habits or action that already completed. S + V2+ O
•Eg : I went to school yesterday.
Continuous
•To indicate uncompleted action of the past. S + was/were + (V+ing) + O
•Eg : I was going to school when you arrived.
Perfect
•To describe one action that happened before another action in the past. S + had + V3 + O
•Eg : I had gone to school.
Continuous Perfect
• to describe an action that started in the past and and was still in progress when a second action started. S + had + (V+ing) + O
•Eg : I had been going to school for 15 minutes when you arrived.
To indicate a past habit
When I was younger , I wore braces

SIMPLE PAST
For actions that were in progress at some time in the past
Last Sunday, jenny was baking some cakes.
To indicate gradual development without a time expression
It was getting dark
PAST CONTINUOUS
For unfulfilled hope and wishes

PAST PERFECT
To talk about how long something went on up to a particular
time

FUTURE TENSE
Simple
•To indicate action / condition in the future. S + WILL + V+O.
•Eg :
•I will go to school tomorrow.
•I will not go to school.
Continuous
•To indicate what will be going on at some time in the future.
•To indicate planned future events. S + will be + (V+ing) + O.
•Eg :
•I will be going to school when you come.
•I will not be going to school when you come.
Perfect
•To explain an activity that will be completed by a certain time in the future. S + Shall/Will + had + V3 + O.
•Eg :
• I/We shall have gone to school by the time you arrive.
•You/We/They/He/She will have gone to school.
Continuous Perfect
•To talk about an action that will already have started and will still be happening by a certain time in the future. S + will + have/has + (V+ing) + O.
•Eg :
• I will have been going to school for 15 minutes when you arrive.
• I will not have been going to school.

FUTURE CONTINUOUS
FUTURE PERFECT
to say something will be ended, completed or achieved by a
particular point in the future
ex: when he is 40, he will have learnt mandarin for ten years
also used for prediction
ex: if i stop drinking now, in two month's i will have saved
enough to buy a new pair of shoes
to talk about future when the event is been as a definite fact
just as the simple present form is used to express a fact in
the present time.
ex: tomorrow is Monday
to indicate the very near future.
ex: the shows about to begin
