As Cesear emperor of the mighty Roman empire, you have to plan your defence strategy. You've got to border to defend, the British and the German border. Also you got to secure three provinces, Italia, Hispania and Gallia. You need at least 9000 brave legionaries to protect your border. Because the German border is much broader then the British, you need twice as much men to protect it as you would need for the British. To ensure security in your provinces, you would need at least 15000 legionaries. You got still strong residence in Gallia, so you would need as much legionaries in that province, as you need to protect all of your borders. On the other hand Hispania does only need half of the men needed in Gallia. How do you have to distribute your troops to ensure all requirements of your defence plan are met?

You're part of the ground control of ESA space center in Paris. A probe has been launched to explore the earth-like planet Gliese 581, 20 light years away from earth. The probe is orbiting Earth to gin momentum. Now it's time to launch the probe to catapult it in direction of Gliese 581 using all momentum gained from orbiting Earth. The probe has been observed with a high precision laser two times now. At which time does the probe need to be launched?

Some extra Money

Jamy delivers newspapers in the morning to earn some extra money. He has to provide 5 houses with the actual newspaper in the morning. Jamy lives in the only house with a blue roof in his street and he has several ways to choose from to get to the other houses. Some of this path's aren't really suited for his cycle or go uphill, which take him longer to go for. Figure out the best route for Jamy to complete his task, but keep in mind that he has to be at home again, at least after 35 minutes to prepare for school. If you can plan a even better route, he will be thankful for every minute he can sleep longer.

Neutrons collide with the uranium atoms splitting them into two isotopes and an additional neutron is unleashed. The experimental reactor is considered as started, if every uranium atom has been hit once by a neutron. We assume that in average a neutron hit's am uranium atom every minute and no new neutrons are unleashed, if an isotope has been hit. It takes one hour to start the reactor with one kilogram of fissionable material if we start with just one neutron. How long would it take to start the reactor with two kilograms?

You're the operator of a storage power plant. You got three barrages with different additional capacity. The first one can impound 160 000 litres the second one 110 000 litres and the third one 70 000 litres. At the moment the first one is at it's full 160 000 litres additional capacity and to take some pressure from it you want adjust it so that in the first and the second barrage 80 000 litres of additional capacity are used. To accomplish that you can use channels to shift the water between the barrages. Once a channel is open it has to remain open until the capacity of a dam is reached, or the source has no additional water remaining.
