•Persson's other game, "Scrolls" was targeted for legal action by creators of "The Elder Scrolls" for name trademark. He challenged them to a game of Quake 3 to settle the dispute

•One of the creatures in Minecraft is the Enderman, a hostile ghost-like humanoid. It's howls are actually the words "Hi" "Hello" and "What's Up" in reverse

•The UN and Mojang, Minecraft's developer, have a project called 'block by block.' It involves youths using Minecraft to plan urban areas.
