Professional CDMA is the first handheld testing device
with touch navigation for 1xEV-DO (CDMA) 850/1900
MHz networks. It is ideal for CDMA operators who want to
gather volumes of RF network performance data.
the tool gives users:n An accurate realtime view of network qualityn Access to data in every corner of the networkn A way to capture and post-process information
on a standalone basis or in conjunction with other
teMs products n effortless data sharing throughout the organization
the htC touch Pro provides a modern, intuitive user
interface for easy, convenient CDMA testing. the phone’s
advanced touch-screen features, unique finger navigation,
and oversized display enable seamless movement between
screens. With 16 gB of internal storage plus gPs function-
ality, the htC touch Pro amply supports teMs Pocket.
teMs Pocket 8.0 Professional CDMA delivers a robust
array of capabilities:n Measurements can be recorded and stored in
logfiles like those employed by teMs™ Automatic
and teMs™ Investigation. Previously recorded log-
files can be replayed for on-site troubleshooting.n Dynamic command sequences perform consistent
measurements while saving logged data on the
device. services can include voice, Ping, httP, and
ftP upload/download.
n Data views show extensive eV-Do and CDMA 1x

Polkomtel S.A., one of four main mobile
telephony operators in Poland, had a di-
lemma. Due to the great saturation of the
mobile telephony services market, they
had to find innovative ways to beat their
competition on network and service quality
and performance. To address this challenge,
they formed a unit within the company ded-
icated to network and service quality. With
the staff in place, they then had to find the
best tools for the job.
They knew exactly where to look.
Polkomtel has a long, positive history
of using teMs Investigation, and knew that
the product always meets expectations.
When it came time to trial a solution for
benchmarking and analyzing 3g and 2g
services, they relied on that long-standing
good experience and relationship to select
teMs Automatic.
the trial was successful. As a result,
Polkomtel chose to purchase the teMs
Automatic system in order to use it for their
nationwide benchmarking measurements
across all of Poland.
Jacek godzisz, service Quality specialist
from Polkomtel discussed the reasons for
their selection. “the main benefit of having
teMs Automatic is that we can make a lot
of tests and measurements which can be
controlled remotely,” godzisz said. “We can
put Mtus into cars, trains, or in stationary
places like offices.”
Polkomtel’s nationwide drive-test uti-
lizing teMs Automatic began in March 2009.
teMs assisted with the preparation, configu-
ration, and operation of the teMs Automatic
system before this wide-ranging measure-
ment project.
the successful relationship between
teMs and Polkomtel began with teMs In-
vestigation, and now includes teMs Auto-
matic. godzisz is positive about working
with teMs offerings, both now and in the
future: “It can meet our expectations and
can help us in future measurements.” ¨
As one of four main mobile telephony
operators in Poland, Polkomtel s.A. has
pioneered innovative gsM-technology-
based services on the Polish market.
Among other notable achievements, it
was the first Polish company to offer
MMs messaging, voice-based access
to text messages (sMs), and gPrs and
eDge based data transmission services.
In september 2004 Polkomtel’s Plus di-
vision was the first operator in Poland
to launch 3g mobile telephony services
including uMts.
Functional enhancements
Call-based analysis – In most cases, network problems
can be understood by analyzing information based on calls
and sessions only, rather than samples. this can provide a
more efficient way of performing the sometimes very te-
dious and time-consuming troubleshooting and analysis
tasks.
the teMs Automatic system processes call information
into a comprehensive summary/statistics format on a per-
call basis. the user can then easily view the call summary/
statistics and quickly identify the causes of problems.
If a more detailed (sample based) analysis is required,
specific calls can be reprocessed into the database for fur-
ther investigation.
Test from a user’s perspective – It is possible to mix
multiple Ps services and service types within a single PDP
context activation. this allows testing that imitates user be-
havior with regard to service sequences as well as variations
in pauses – random or fixed delays – between services.
