INTRODUCTION – WHY MASTER PROGRAM IN PUBLIC SECTOR AND
ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS
The School of Economics and Business in Sarajevo entered the Bologna-reform process threeyears ago with a completely redesigned and redefined undergraduate curriculum consisting of
two major programs: an academic program in Economics and Management and a practice-
oriented program in Applied Business. Both programs contain six concentrations each and thestudents are given a choice to follow the desired profile (see Fig. 1).
Academic program in Economics comprises the following concentrations:
1. Global Economy
2. Economic Analysis
3. Economics of Public Sector 4. Economics of Europe
5. Macroeconomic Management
6. Macrofinancial Management
while academic program in Management contains the following concentrations:
1. Marketing Management
2. Management and Organization
3. International Business4. Financial Management
5. Management and IS
6. Accounting and Auditing
Within the project of creating the graduate program portfolio and having in mind the fact that the
program of Economics of Public Sector is already defined at the undegraduate level (first degreelevel), the management of the School decided to launch an appropriate program on the master
level that would continue with providing more knowledge and skills in this area. Since it is the
first time that the School considers such a master program, it was decided to enter the jointTempus project in collaboration with Faculty of Economics (University of Ljubljana) and Faculte
de Droit, des Sciences Politique, Economique and de Gestion (University of Nice, Sophia
Antipolis).
