Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills is proud to announce that, along with Temple Isaiah, and Congregation Kol Ami, we have received a major, multi-year Cutting Edge Grant from The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles.
The Cutting Edge Grant has been awarded to create and establish “The Synagogue Village… a participatory, intentional community that directs resources, talents, services, and energies toward enabling members to age-in-place.
As a continuation of the work done with the “Next Stage: Boomers & Beyond Initiative” led by Rabbi Laura Geller, "The Synagogue Village" will be the first inter-congregational neighborhood-
based village designed to create a strong intergenerational community built on a foundation of Jewish values where neighbors are interdependent, support each other, have fun together, and deepen their Jewish connections within the neighborhood. While there are more than 100 villages around the country that are part of the Village-to-Village Network, ours will be the first created by faith communities.
Want to Learn More?Together, our three synagogues will spend the first year structuring operations, creating relationships, designing services and programs, and identifying the first cohort. If you are interested in more information about “The Synagogue Village,” please email:[email protected].
This project is really cutting edge! It takes a village to enrich our lives. Be a part of it!

From Strength To StrengthHigh Holy Days 2015This year’s High Holy Days’ theme draws from a phrase recited when finishing each book in the Torah, prior to moving onto the next book. The phrase—“Chazak, Chazak, V’nitchazek,” from strength to strength, we strengthen each other—serves as a powerful reminder that the strength we need to move through life’s changes comes not only from ourselves, but also from each other.
We encourage you to “share your strength” with us by answering the following questions, so that we can share the anonymous responses during High Holy Day services.

Pillar members, the “Pillars” of our temple community, annually contribute an additional amount above full dues. The Pillar program is a significant source of the temple’s support and it enables us to provide important programs and services for our members.
Our Pillar members have all the benefits of full membership and also receive a Pillar Pass with priority entrance and seating for High Holy Days and complimentary parking. Pillar members are invited to special select events during the year as guests of Temple Emanuel, and have their names displayed in the foyer of the Corwin Family Sanctuary.
If you are interested in becoming a Pillar member and supporting Temple Emanuel in this special way, please call Julie Macht at 310.409.4635.
