A Word from Our Editor … by: Sis. Marilyn Silver

I greet you in the precious name of Jesus. He is so good to me. Jesus has done so much for me; I can not tell it all. I’m reminded that He is the creator of the heavens and the earth. Jesus lets the sun shine in the day time and moon at night. He touches us with a touch of love and allows us to sleep, rest, wake up and be refreshed in the body. It’s amazing the dangers we walk through daily, yet He shields us and keeps us safe. There are so many wonderful things about Jesus. We must be watchful and prayerful that our attention is not removed from Him. Life offers so many distractions, and not all of these distractions are negative. However, when the distractions begin to replace Christ at the center of our lives, then we need to reconsider where our treasures are. There comes a time when we need to shut out every distraction, every background noise, every temptation, and place ourselves in the presence of God. We need a quiet time with Him, a blessed time with Him. There needs to be a time down in our hearts where we reminisce and are reassured of His goodness to us. A time of refreshing is necessary as we fight a good fight of faith on the battlefield for the Lord. The song Blessed Quietness, Holy Quietness is an inspirational song that reminds me of the promises of God. Find a quiet place, take the time to reset, refresh yourself and come on back on the battlefield. When we are reminded that, “the Comforter has come” it brings joy. Knowing that Jesus abides with us forever our hearts can trust in Him. He

has it all in control. Remember, God will never leave you nor forsake you. Run this race in faith. “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” (Hebrew 12:1).

Joys are flowing like a river, Since the Comforter has come;

He abides with us forever, Makes the trusting heart His home.

Blessed quietness, holy quietness, What assurance in my soul!

On the stormy sea, Jesus speaks peace to me. And the billows cease to roll!

Like the rain that falls from heaven, Like the sunlight from the sky,

So the Holy Ghost is given, Coming to us from on high.

What a wonderful salvation Where we always see His face!

What a perfect habitation! What a quiet resting place!

Temple Elders Speak … by: Elder Burnett Adams, Jr.

Remaining Calm Through The Storms Of Life Greetings my brothers and sisters, it is again my pleasure to write unto you. Knowing the times in which we are living, we need to draw nearer to God and make a full commitment to his Word. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. GOD IS IN THE MIDST OF HER…” reads Psalm 46:1-5a. Psalms 103:2 tells us, “Bless the Lord. O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” Ofttimes fears, uncertainties, difficulties in this life’s journey, unfocused us on the presence of God in our lives,

and his abilities to do exceeding above all that we can ask or imagine in our minds. In II Timothy 1:7, we are reminded, “For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Let’s continue to be reminded that God calms the storm and then sometimes He allows the storms to calm us. As we walk by faith, in this life and not by what we see, we can remain calm through the storms of life through our faith in God. AMEN.

Temple Men Speak… by: Deacon Steve Robinson

Temple of Deliverance Cathedral Choir celebrated

its 4th Anniversary on August 26th. It was a glorious

occasion. The spirit of the Lord filled the Temple. Our

guests and friends came from far and near to worship in the

beauty of Holiness. The choir was arrayed in white and teal

as they marched in with smiles of joy and the anticipation of

worship. Hearts were touched as songs of Zion rang out.

Songs were rendered by Sis. Darlene Adams, True

Apostolic Church, One Accord and our special guest choir

of Living Waters Apostolic Church.

The word of God was delivered through Elder Eric

Jackson, of Living Waters Redeemed Apostolic Church -

Newport News, VA. Our scriptural texts were found in

Matthew18:19-20; James 5:13-16. The sermon title was

“Pray for Me.” Pastor Jackson reminded us that

God will forgive us and we need to forgive one another. He

said we must remember to pray for everyone, sincerely;

even our enemies. It’s going to take

prayer to make it. Pray for Me.! Thank

God for the Word.

We thank God for our

Cathedral Choir officers, members, and

musicians. Special thanks to our M.C.,

Sis. Norma Trice, to our pastor,

Elder Lynn Beanum and all those

who supported the anniversary. Please continue to pray for

the choir as we enter a new year of serving the Lord and

holding up the light in these dark days. God bless you

always.

Build A Relationship with Christ

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I’m writing today concerning our God-given talents as stewards to strengthen God’s churches. You can build a relationship with God through prayer. My sisters and brothers, there are those who try to hinder God’s work. God’s work is work that is approved by God. If someone is doing God’s work, they literally believe that they have a divine commission to do it. I had a supervisor for 8 years who did not like me. I did not know why. One day he called me into his office and asked me, “If

God is who you say He is, why did He let my son be born cripple?” He disliked me because I love GOD. If you are a Christian you are going to be hated, lied on and talked about just as sure as you are born. So, be encouraged, no matter what you are going through. Jesus will make it alright.

FAITH When we look around us at all that is happening in society today, it is easy to become nervous about the future. In fact, the enemy of our souls has truly infected the atmosphere and the fabric of society because he knows his time is short. It is because of the signs of the times that I am happy to write this month about Faith. Matthew 6:28-30, “And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” When we consider the lilies of the field we have to think about what it takes for them to grow and be clothed in all their splendor. They must receive the right light, the right water, the right amount of sun. They must be protected from the storms and the rain. As we travel through this life we will encounter the elements that cause our seas to be calm, and those that cause them to be stormy. We will enjoy peaceful times, and tumultuous times, and through it all, God will clothe us, keep us, and make sure we grow. He will give us the right amount of

sun, and the right amount of rain. He will shield us from the storm, and what storm He does allow to come will be for our good. In the end, we will shine in all our splendor, just like the lilies, so that God can get the glory out of our lives. The lilies show forth His praise in all their beautiful colors. We too show forth His praise in the way we conduct ourselves, live our lives, and walk in faith. Consider the lilies – and catch hold of faith!! A faith untested is a faith unformed, un-matured and unreliable. When you realize the importance of the test, you can trust God through it, knowing we are saved by grace through our ever increasing faith. So we don’t want a weak, puny faith. We want a fully developed, strong faith, and it is the test that will get us to the testimony of faith – and we overcome by our testimony! The Lord Jesus Christ is the only one we can trust in, the only one we can believe in. There is an old song that says, “Everything is going down but the Word of God!” and it is so true my sisters! Whatever you do, come what may, do not love this life. Build your hopes on things eternal. Hold to God’s unchanging hand. Keep the faith, keep looking up, stand for right and righteousness, build up your oil and keep your lamps burning bright. Jesus is coming soon.

Revival & Homecoming September 5th-8th was a week to remember. The Lord poured out His spirit upon us in the house of God. Our anointed speaker Elder Leslie Gales, Sr., of God’s Living Word Apostolic Temple-Dumfries VA, brought forth powerful messages from the Lord each night. Shouts of joy rang out as hearts were touched and revived. The messages were titled Tuesday through Friday respectively: The Lord is with Me, I’m Blessed, We are on an Assignments with a Purpose from God, and Thank you Lord for my Reward. God’s word accomplished what it was set out to do. We went out rejoicing. Homecoming Day was blessed all day. Our very own, Pastor Lynn Beanum, brought forth the morning message, titled Rejoice. God blessed us to do just that. The glory of the Lord shone around us as we worshipped in the beauty of Holiness. Following morning worship we dined sufficiently with our guests, families, and friends. Pastor Gales returned on Sunday evening to bring forth the message. It was titled, This is the Hour of Restoration. What a blessed Revival and Homecoming Day. Please keep Temple of Deliverance in your prayers as we enter a new, blessed and spirit-filled year in the Lord!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL July 24th - 28th was a week of Vacation Bible School, it was a time of learning, loving and laughter. There were 6 classes ranging from ages 2 to adult. Food Court, Recreation, and Arts & Crafts stations were set up to be enjoyed by all who attended. Our theme, The Incredible Race, was taught by our dedicated teachers and the move of God blessed the students each night. Hebrews 12:1 was the theme verse, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” We thank God for ALL of our participants. Special thanks to Sis. Vera Coleman - our coordinator, teachers, helpers, cooks, workers/volunteers behind the scene, and our beloved pastor, Elder Lynn Beanum. Please continue to pray for our Vacation Bible School Team and the church as we run our race with patience. We are looking forward to next year. May God bless and keep you in His care.

Care-giving is a purpose-filled calling. It may not be recognized as such by the world at large, however. Caregivers will not usually earn medals or receive honors for what they do day in and day out. Care-giving work does not facilitate the earning of great amounts of money, either. In fact, just the opposite is most often true. Care-giving for a family member can be discouraging and involves sacrificial giving of oneself to the person who needs one’s help. It is, however, one of the most significant and purpose-filled callings God can give us. Care-giving often involves a lot of heartache and grief, as we see our loved ones continue to move backward in their health. In spite of this, the caregiver is engaged in God’s work. Not only is care-giving filled with purpose while the caregiver is in the midst of the responsibilities of care-giving, but this phase of the caregiver’s life is also a prepara-tion for what God has planned for his or her post care-giving days. It has been said that God cannot use someone in a significant way until that person has suffered some deep loss, hurt, or pain. The losses and grief caregivers experience as they see their loved one’s health deteriorate will help them to be more compassionate servants of God in future days. Dear Christian caregiver, the challenges of care-giving are shaping your character to become a more beautiful reflection of Jesus. Think of the Bible characters like Job, Paul, and others. Through their losses and grief, they became more dependent on the Lord and more usable in His kingdom. Because of your sacrifices in care-giving and because of the pain you feel while caring for a loved one who cannot recover, you are being prepared to also be used in significant ways when your care-giving days end.
