refer to section 3.1.4 “User Privileges Required for Installation and Operation" in the user’s manual.

- For installing MDA on Windows 7 Ultimate, the Microsoft hotfix "Windows6.1-KB968211-

x86" must be installed previously.

- Hyper-threading must be supported by the CPU.

- Multiple monitors can be used, but there is no special functionality in MDA for them.

- To enhance the MDA performance, it is recommended to use computers with as much memory (RAM) as possible and a fast hard disk drive.

- It is recommended to keep the target operating system always updated (with latest

updates for Windows™ operating systems from Microsoft).

manager is opened during the installation and can also be started at a later point as an external program located in the ETAS program folder in the Start menu. The license file

can be obtained through a self-service portal on the ETAS website by using the software

entitlement that you received during the order process or were provided by your tool coordinator.

537369 MDA XDA configuration gets corrupt in case the XDA contains calculated signals

(KIR-issue, see also ETAS Download Page)

Detailed Description:

IF

an XDA file contains calculated signals AND

the XDA is loaded in MDA V7.2.1

AND Case A.: The option “check loading out of default path” is set to “Yes” or “Yes without

warning” OR

Case B.: [At least one calculated signals refers to an input signal which is not available in the

current measure file AND

the measure file is replaced by another measure file where the input signals for calculated signals are missing]

THEN

the formula of the calculated signal gets corrupted.

Note:

This is independent from the MDA version which was used for creating the XDA file.

The issue was introduced with an MDA V7.2.1 beta version and was still an issue with the

first released MDA V7.2.1 Build 230.

This issue is solved with MDA V7.2.1 Build 233 and higher.

To distinguish the MDA Versions the Build Number is now also displayed in the MDA Title Bar, and in the About Dialog.

3.7 Known Issue Reports

If a product issue develops, ETAS will prepare a Known Issue Report (KIR) and post it on the internet. The report includes information regarding the technical impact and status of

the solution. Therefore you must check the KIR applicable to this ETAS product version and follow the relevant instructions prior to operation of the product.

The Known Issue Report (KIR) can be found here: http://www.etas.com/kir

3.8 Quality Assessment and Limitations

The following known limitations exist in the released version:

General:

- It is recommended to use not more than 100 signals in one analysis view.

- It is recommended to work with supported files that are on a local drive.

- MDA is not able to handle two-byte or three-byte characters properly in general.

- It is recommended to de-install older versions of MDA manually before a new installation (especially before downgrading).

- On a Windows 7 PC it is recommended to use the Windows classic theme.

- It is recommended to use Line Type "Solid" for signals when the Y-Axis range is set to

less than 1% of signal's available range.

- When no views are present in configuration & measure file is not available at embedded path, reloading of configuration will not consider the measure at default path, even

"check loading out of default path" option is set to "Yes" or "Yes without warning". (Defect #533446)

- It is recommended to set Text Size (DPI) to 100% for proper representation of dialogs

in MDA.

- MDA does not support generation of ASCII file from any mf4/mf3 files with virtual master channel. (Defect #548918)

Printing:

- MDA is not able to handle paper sizes larger than 999 mm.

- Settings for paper layout (size, orientation) in MDA printer settings must be the same as

for printer itself.

- In case the created image for printing exceeds the limit of 90 MB not all printers (software/hardware) are supported.

- Modifying the printer settings from MDA Print Layout Editor will change the default

printer settings.

Page 13: Template for ETAS Manuals in Microsoft Word format · KIR Known Issue Report. On severe problems that occur after a release, ETAS has introduced the Known Issue Report to inform the

Release Notes

MDA/INCA - Calculated Signals:

- It is recommended to use '.' as decimal symbol for defining calculated signals.

- Using library functions in formulas might cause some differences in the number of samples.

- Measure time as input signal does not work correctly.

- It is recommended to use Cache file for calculated signals which cannot be merged.

- If a user wants to change a *.pm file then MDA should be closed before. It is

recommended to clear the cache files directory (….\ETASData\MDA_Cache) once if *.pm files are modified while the tool is open after migration to MDAV7.1.8 or higher.

ETAS File Indexing

- It is recommended to use ETAS File Indexing when the measure file size is greater than

100 MB.

Visualization view for Video Data

- Usage of files (> 10 minutes) may lead to performance issues or synchronization

functionality failure.

- Needs a special asap1 driver to be installed in addition. Necessary video codecs have to

be installed separately and are not part of MDA installation.

- In some cases on Click of Play, video ends without playing completely for few of the

video signals instead of playing completely. (Defect #361672). This issue is due to the

limitation in the media player control and occurs only for some files and not in general. For more information please use the given link -

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/96c67dce-597c-443e-a755-618638367b45/mediaplayerposition-set-problem

4 Hotfix / Service Pack Information

Hotfixes / Service Packs will be released on periodic basis. Hotfixes / Service Packs should be installed as soon as they have been released for world-wide deployment.
