INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your purchase of the TelstraAccess� 200 Calling Number Display ExecutiveTelephone. The Access 200 is an exciting additionto Telstra�s modern range of stylish, efficientcommunications equipment. The Access 200�slarge digital display, its dedicated function keys andits intuitive menu-driven interface make it one ofthe simplest feature-rich products available. Toobtain full benefit from the Access 200, please readthese instructions and keep them handy for futurereference.
DESCRIPTION
Your Telstra Access 200 displays and stores thetelephone number of your telephone callers as wellas the date and time at which calls were recorded.Your Access 200 allows you to:
� Record the telephone number of incoming callswhen you are absent.
� View the telephone number of an incoming callbefore you answer. Provided the number is notblocked, the Access 200 displays the caller�stelephone number after the first ring of thetelephone. Whether you decide to answer thecall or not, the caller�s number is recorded inthe call log.
� See at a glance whether the incoming call isblocked or not. When the telephone is ringingthe speed at which the New Calls IndicatorLight flashes informs you if the caller hasblocked their telephone number.

DESCRIPTION
Your Access 200 allows you to:
� In future, when available from the Telstranetwork, view the telephone number of anincoming call when you are already on thetelephone (Calling Number Display on CallWaiting). The visual indicators and a tone inyour telephone handset will inform you whena new call is waiting.The Access 200 gives you the telephonenumber of a new caller provided the number isnot blocked and helps you to decidewhether to switch between the two calls or toignore the incoming call. In either case, thetelephone number is stored in the call log.
� In future, when available from the Telstranetwork, see if you have received a message inyour voice mail box. If you have a Voice MailService, the Access 200 displays the * iconto inform you that a message is recorded inyour voice mail box. A short time after youhave listened to your messages, the Voice MailService sends a signal to your Access 200 toautomatically turn off the * icon.

Installing your Access 200:
The telephone should be located near a 240V ACpower source.
Step 1. Connect the handset cord:
Turn the telephone over. Plug one end of the coiledhandset cord into the right hand modular socketThen insert the cord into the channel below thesocket and plug the other end of the cord into thehandset.
Step 2. Connect the line cord:
Plug one end of the telephone line cord into theleft-hand modular socket. Then insert the cord intothe channel below the socket and plug the otherend of the cord into the telephone line socket usingeither the Modular Adaptor provided or the modularplug depending on the type of telephone line socketusing either the modular adaptor plug provided orthe modular plug depending on the type oftelephone line socket in use.
Step 3. Connect the AC Power Adaptor:
Insert the small plug of the AC power adaptor intothe DC 9V socket. Then insert the cord into thechannel below the socket and plug the poweradaptor in the power outlet.

Desk Mounting
The Access 200 is a provided with a special standwhich is fitted as shown.
Squeeze the sides of the stand to fit it into the twoslots on the upper reverse side of the telephone.Two positions are possible, depending on whichway you install the stand.

Making a call
1. Lift the handset and dial the phone number
2. To end the call, replace the handset.
Note:
You can dial the number manually using the keys[0] through [9] and the keys [RECALL], [PAUSE][#] and [*].
Or you can retrieve and dial a number stored inany of the Quick-Dial memories simply by pressingthe [M1], [M2], [M3] or [M4].
Or you can retrieve a number stored in theDirectory or Callers List and the press [OK] todial.
Predialling a Number
You can enter a number before lifting the handset.This allows you to view, and if necessary, changethe number before dialling it.
1. With the handset still on hook enter a number.You can correct mistakes or modify the numberusing the [CLEAR] key to delete digits and
the [�] or [�] keys to move the cursor rightor left.

Answering a Call
The messages displayed by your telephone dependon the the services provided by the Telstranetwork. If you have the Calling Number Displayservice, when a call is received, the telephone ringsand the New Calls alert and symbol both flash.The display also shows the telephone number ofthe person calling, provided the number is notblocked.
1. Lift the handset then speak.
2. To end the call, replace the handset.
Note:
You can answer a call even if you are in the Menu,the Directory, or any other list. When the telephonerings, the display alternates between the currentscreen and the caller�s telephone number (ifprovided). This stops shortly after you answerthe call.

Adjusting the Ring Volume
You can increase, decrease or even turn off thering volume through the Settings menu.
1. Press and hold [SERV/MENU] for 2 secondsto enter the Settings Menu.
2. Press [�] to scroll to the �SET RINGVOLUME� option, then press [OK].
3. Press [�] or [�] to scroll to the volume leveldesired (�HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW or OFF� )then press [OK].
4. Press [SERV/MENU] to exit the Settingsmenu.
Dialling or Redialling Numbers
You can also make calls by redialling the lastnumber called or by dialling from the Directory,Callers List, Quick-Dial memories or notepad.

Redialling
To Redial the Last Number Dialled
1. Lift the handset then press [REDIAL].
The telephone displays the last number dialled andredials it.
To View the Number Before Redialling
1. Press [REDIAL] to display the number
2. Modify the number if you want to (see How toEnter a Number.)
3. Press [OK] to dial handsfree or lift the handsetand then press [OK] to dial.
To Clear the Redial Number From Memory
1. Press [REDIAL] to display the number
2. Press to delete, then [OK] to confirm.
Note:
You cannot clear the redial number from thememory during a call.

Dialling From the Directory
1. Press [DIRECTORY]
The display indicates how many entries are inthe Directory, then shows the first entry.
2. Press [�] or [�] to find the desired entry.To speed up the search, you can enter the firstletter of the entry�s name. The first namebeginning with that letter appears. Then Press[�] or [�] to find the desired entry.
3. Press [OK] to dial in handsfree or lift thehandset and then press [OK] to dial.The telephone dials the number and exits fromthe Directory.
Dialling From the Callers List
1. Press [CALLERS]
The display shows the most recent entry andthe u symbol appears (indicating that youare in the Callers List.)
2. Press [�] or [�] to find the caller, then press[OK] to confirm your selection.The display shows the number to be dialled andon the second line the messages �NBR TO BEDIALLED� and �CHECK AREA CODE� areshown alternately.Remember your telephone logs caller numbersexactly as sent by the Telstra network. In somecases, this means the area code might have tobe modified before the caller�s number can besuccessfully dialled from your area.

The Notepad
The notepad facility allows you to enter and store anumber during a call. This may be useful when ina hurry, in an emergency situation, or when there isno pen or paper to hand. After you end the callyou can retrieve the number from the notepad anddial it or move it to the Directory or a Quick-Dialmemory.
Dialling From the Notepad
The notepad facility allows you to enter and store anumber while on a call and then dial the numberafter your call.
1. Press [NOTEPAD]
The symbol appears and the number in thenotepad is displayed.

Writing to Notepad
During a call you can enter and store a number inthe notepad memory.
1. During a call (and when not viewing theDirectory or other lists) press [NOTEPAD].The symbol appears and the display showsthe number currently in the notepad or themessage �NOTE EMPTY� if there is nonumber.
2. Press and hold the key to clear the currentnumber (if any).
3. Enter a number then press [NOTEPAD].The number is saved and you exit automaticallyfrom the notepad. If you exit the notepad orterminate the call before completing yournumber then whatever is on the screen isautomatically saved.After you end your call, you can retrieve thenumber from the notepad and dial it, or move itto the Directory or Quick Dial memory.
Note:
The notepad content is lost if power is removedfrom the telephone.
Moving a notepad entry
You can transfer and save the contents of yournotepad to the Directory or any of the Quick-Dialmemories.

4. Modify the name and number (if necessary)and assign a melody.The notepad number is saved in the specifieddestination and the notepad is cleared. Thedisplay automatically exits from the notepad.

Muting a Call
During a call you can switch off the microphone sothat the person on the telephone cannot hear you.However, you can still hear them.
1. During a call, press [MUTE]The microphone is muted and the �HANDSETMUTED� symbols flashes.
2. To unmute the microphone, press [MUTE]again.
Switching to and From Listen-in Mode
During a call you can activate the Speakerphone sothat those around you can hear the person you aretalking to. The person can only hear whoever talksthrough the handset.
1. Press [SPEAKER] to activate theSpeakerphone. During a call the speakervolume can be adjusted by turning the rotarywheel on the right hand side of the telephone.
2. To switch off the speaker press [SPEAKER]again.

Switching to and From Handsfree Mode
During a call you can switch from using thehandset to using the speaker (and vice versa)
1. To switch to handsfree mode press and hold[SPEAKER] while replacing the handset.
2. To switch back to the handset mode simply liftthe handset.
Answering Call Waiting
If you are already on the line and you hear the callwait beeps, you can speak to the second caller usingthe Call Wait button.
1. To answer a second call press the [CALLWAIT] key. The first caller is put on hold.
2. To switch from one call to the other, press[CALL WAIT] key again.
Note:
In future when Calling Number Display on CallWaiting is available, the Access 200 will display thetelephone number of the second caller. If youignore the Call Waiting, the telephone number willbe stored in the Caller's List.

Handsfree Operation
The Handsfree feature of your telephone enablesyou to make and answer calls while remaining freefor other activities.
To make a call:
1. Either press [SPEAKER] then dial thetelephone number or predial the telephonenumber and then press [OK].
2. To end the call press [SPEAKER].
To answer a call:
1. Press [SPEAKER] then speak.
2. To end the call press [SPEAKER].
To adjust the handsfree speaker volume:
During a call turn the rotary wheel on the righthand side of the telephone to increase or decreasethe handsfree speaker volume.

1. To switch to handset mode, simply lift thehandset.

Extension in Use
If someone is using a parallel telephone the displayshows the message �EXTENSION IN USE� andthe New Calls Indicator is switched on.
Note:
The message �EXTENSION IN USE� is alsodisplayed if your telephone is not plugged into thetelephone line socket.

The Settings Menu
Your telephone is ready to use as soon as it isconnected and installed as explained at thebeginning of this User Guide. However, to obtainthe most out of the telephone some features willneed setting (e.g. the date and time) and otherfeatures may need adjusting (e.g. the ringer).All of these features are accessible through theSettings Menu.
Note:
The Settings menu is not available during calls
1. Press and Hold [SERV/MENU] for 2 secondsto enter the Setting Menu.
2. Press [�] to scroll to the option you want thenpress [OK] to select it. The display shows theoptions current setting if it has one.
3. Press [�] or [�] to view the possible settingsfor the current option, then press [OK] to selectthe setting you want.
This sets the option and returns you to the mainmenu. Some options like �DATE� and �TIME�require you to enter a value using the keypad.
4. To exit the Settings menu press
[SERV/MENU].
Power FailureYour settings are not lost in the event of a powerfailure. Only the notepad and redial numbers arelost.

To set the Date and Time hold the [SERV/MENU]key down for 2 seconds until:

Selecting Ring Type:

Setting Call List Memory:
Sets the Callers List to log either �names andnumbers� or �number only�. The default is Nameand Number and sets the maximum number ofentries to 25. The selection of NUMBER ONLYautomatically sets the maximum number of entriesto 50.Press and hold the [SERV/MENU] key down for 2seconds until:

Switches the beep function ON (default) or OFF.When this function is ON, a short beep sounds ifyou press a key that cannot be used in certainsituations.
The error beep will only work if the handset is onthe hook.

Calling Number Distinctive Ring Match
This is a programmable feature that personalizesyour Calling Number Display information receivedby the telephone.
You can program your telephone to use adistinctive ring melody for a particular caller,thereby knowing who is calling you without theneed to view the display.
If the caller number matches an entry in theDirectory or a Quick-Dial memory, the telephoneuses the ring melody assigned to that entry. Whenassigning a ring melody you can choose thestandard (this is melody A or B depending on theSettings menu) or one of three distinctive melodies.

Note:
The ringer applies the distinctive melody only whenthe telephone number has been received andidentified, which means that the first ring is alwaysstandard.
You can store a number and a name in theDirectory, Screening List or the Quick Dialmemories. To do this enter the list by using therelevant key and then modify the entry ifnecessary.
The choice for the distinctive melodies will only beavailable for the Directory and the Quick Dialmemories.

How to Enter a Number
To enter a number, use the keypad keys [0] through[9] the [#] and [*] keys and the [PAUSE] and[RECALL] keys.Press [�] (PREV) to move the cursor left and
[�] (NEXT) to move the cursor right.Press to delete the digit at the current cursorpositionPress and hold to clear all digits one by one.To insert a digit, position the cursor to theimmediate right of the insertion point.
Pause Characters:
If your number ends with an external access code(such as a voice mail password) then enter one ormore pause characters before the access code.To obtain a pause character, press PAUSE (thedisplay shows P). How to Assign a Melody
After you add, modify or move a Number/Nameentry to the Directory or Quick Dial memories thedisplay shows the melody selection screen:

The telephone gives a sample ring if you changethe melody or if you press [*], [1], [2], or [3].Once a melody is assigned the process of addingmodifying or moving the Number/Name entry iscomplete.
To view a melody setting:
If you want to see which melody is assigned to agiven Number/Name entry, proceed as if to modifythe entry. Step through the name and number bypressing the [OK] key. This brings you to themelody selection screen.
The Directory
You can store up to 50 name and number entries inthe Directory. Your entries are automaticallyalphabetized and can be quickly found through analphabet search.For ease of search enter your name in a consistentway i.e. all first names first or last names first.
Adding to the Directory:1. Press [DIRECTORY]
The display indicates how many entries are inthe Directory, then shows the first entry.
2. Press [ENTER]
The display shows the �ADD NEW ITEM�and �MODIFY� options. If the directory is full(50 entries) then the option �ADD NEW ITEM�does not appear. You must delete an entrybefore adding another.
3. Press [OK] to select the �ADD NEW ITEM�option.

The Quick-Dial Memories
Your telephone has 4 quick dial memories [M1],[M2], [M3], and [M4] in which to store your mostfrequently dialled numbers. Quick dial memoriescan contain name and number or number onlyentries.
The maximum length for a number is 16 digits andthe maximum length for a name is 16 characters.
Setting/Modifying Quick-Dial memory
1. Press [M1], [M2], [M3], or [M4].
2. Press [ENTER].

USING CALLER DISPLAY
The Callers List:
If you have the Calling Number Display serviceyour telephone logs your incoming calls in theCallers List. This allows you to call people backquickly and easily. The most recent caller is loggedat the top of the list.
You can set the Callers List to log all incoming callsor only unanswered calls. The default setting is tolog all calls. You can also set the Callers List to logthe caller�s name and number or their number only.The default setting is to log the name and thenumber.
The Callers List can store up to 25 name andnumber entries or up to 50 number only entries.If the list is full the oldest entry is automaticallydeleted when a new call is logged.
Unseen Calls:
When a new unanswered call is logged, the NewCalls Indicator flashes slowly the symbolblinks and the Unseen Call counter increments byone. The New Calls Indicator continues to flash(except when you are in a call) until all theunanswered calls have been seen.
Viewing the Caller List:
1. Press [CALLERS]
The display shows the most recent entry and theu symbol appears (indicating you are in theCallers List).

If you read a new entry it is assumed to be seenand the Unseen Counter decrements by one.

Moving a Caller Entry:
You can transfer an entry from the Callers List intothe Directory the Screening List or any of theQuick-Dial memories. This allows you to keep theentry for as long as you like.

The display shows the message �MOVE TO ?�

5. Modify the name and number (if necessary)and assign a melody.The caller entry is deleted from the Callers Listand saved in the specified destination. Thedisplay returns to the next entry.

Calling Number Display Features:
If you have the Calling Number Display service
provided by your network your telephone offers thefollowing features for incoming calls:
Caller List:
The callers number (or name and number, ifprovided), is logged in the Callers List. You canchoose to have all incoming calls logged or just theunanswered calls.
Caller Name Match:
If the caller�s name and number are stored in theDirectory the Screening List or in a Quick-Dialmemory the telephone displays the stored nameinstead of the name sent by the network .
Caller Ringer match:
You can program your telephone to use adistinctive ring for a particular caller therebyknowing even at a distance who is calling you.
Unwanted Calls:
If the caller�s number is stored in your ScreeningList the ring volume is automatically silenced afterthe first ring and the New Calls Indicator will flashrapidly.
Anonymous Call Alert:
If the New Calls Indicator flashes quickly whenyou receive a call this indicates that the caller hasasked the network to block their telephone number.

Visual Message Waiting Service
In future, when available from the Telstra network,if you have Voice Mail message service thatincludes the visual message waiting indicationfeature, the * symbol appears and the New Callsalert flashes whenever you have a message waitingfor you. When you have read all the messages inthe voice mailbox the * symbol disappearsautomatically.
Note:
If the * symbol remains on the screen after youhave read all your messages you can clear itmanually by selecting the �CLR MESSAGE� Iconoption in the Settings menu.
Using the Services List
For easy access to your local network services,your telephone provides you with a list of the mostpopular and useful Telstra Easycall® networkservices.

To initiate Call Blocking and prevent your telephonenumber from being sent to the called party, selectCall Blocking in the Service Menu. Press [OK] todial the code 1831, before you dial the number tobe called.
To call forward your calls select Call Fwd ImmON from the Service Menu. Press [OK] then dialthe number to which calls will be forwarded, thenpress [OK]. A confirmation tone will be heard anda voice message will be recorded.
Call Back is used when the called number is busy.Simply hang up the telephone, the Select Call Backfrom the Service Menu. Press [OK] to dial thenetwork code. Hang up the telephone and wait forTelstra's network to call you back.
