READ: Aunt Isabel Tells A Good One

By Kate Duke When Penelope asks her Aunt Isabel (both are mice) to tell her a story, Aunt Isabel agrees, but only if Penelope helps her. What developes is a wonderful collaboration between the two: they tell a story with all the required ingredients--a prince, a heroine, some villians, an adventure, and romance. Readers will be touched by the special bond between niece and aunt.

DO: Share A Story

Materials

• Popsicle sticks or rulers or unsharpened pencils • Paper • Scissors • Markers or crayons • Several pieces of drawing paper taped together to

form a long strip

Step Two: On the long strip of drawing paper, create a scene where the characters can act out their story.

Directions

Step Three: Tell a story, (make sure to have a beginning, middle, and end) using the characters and scenery you have just created. Encourage all members of the family to participate. You can use each other’s ideas to build a more fun and exciting story.
