E&S Heating & Ventilation Ltd has been operating since 1972 providing ductwork contracting services to the construction industry, and we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of ductwork manufacturing technology and investment. We offer Galvanised, Flameshield Fire-Rated and Stainless Steel ductwork manufacture, associated equipment selection along with procurement, installation, insulation, testing and commissioning for air handling systems.

E&S has the capability of offering a complete airside package direct to management and main building contractors, as well as the traditional sub-contract to services contractors.

We are licensed to offer Flameshield, a market-leading fire-rated ductwork system.

Responding to the needs of our clients is a fundamental part of E&S’s philosophy. The service we provide is comprehensive, innovative and flexible. Our engineers can understand and anticipate the client’s changing requirements, and, working closely with the client, we are able to offer innovative ideas and solutions based on our many years of experience in the ductwork industry. With a firm commitment to training, technology and continuous improvement, E&S strives to achieve the best engineering solution whilst maintaining consistently high standards of manufacture and installation.

About Us

1

Services

At E&S Heating & Ventilation Ltd, we offer a range of services, including manufacture of ventilation ductwork products, efficient and top-quality installation and contracting based out of our fully staffed contracting office. Our surveying, estimating, draughting, planning and buying departments are all based at the same premises as our factory in East Sussex. We are proud to embrace new technologies, stringent training and quality assurance along with a full-service, hands-on approach to project management.

Installation

E&S Heating & Ventilation Ltd continues to benefit from a loyal and committed staff, none more so than the site team. All of our projects are allocated a resident supervisor. To supplement our site teams, E&S employ sub-contract labour. These installation crews have worked in partnership with us for many years and are fully conversant with both our own and industry standards, and are fully trained and certificated on relevant plant and tools. We pride ourselves on 100% of our installation teams being SkillCarded under the CSCS scheme.

Our supervisors all hold current certificates, SSSTS and are first aid trained. They are responsible for ensuring that we plan ahead for our installation crews, ensuring efficient and safe progress is made on site. We are committed to running a safe site and providing a safe work environment, and to those ends carry out daily activity briefings, safety inspections and audits on a regular basis. Working safely is of paramount importance with E&S and is considered throughout the entire lifecycle of the project.

E&S is confident that the same high standards of installation are maintained from the first section of ductwork we install down to the last grille we level in.

2

Contracting

At the heart of E&S Heating & Ventilation Ltd is a fully staffed contracting office which houses surveying, estimating, draughting, planning and buying departments, all based at the same premises as our production workshop.

Our Contracts Director leads the Project Management Team.

The day-to-day engineering, administration and development of each project is handled by one of our experienced Project Managers who, with an allocated team of engineers, draughtsmen and surveyors, will respond to the demands of the construction programme and clients’ requirements from its site base. (When a project is run from our Hailsham office, the Project Engineer and/or draughtsmen will attend site as necessary to represent our company at both progress and coordination meetings, carry out site surveys and meet with the client as required.)

Manufacture

E&S Heating & Ventilation Ltd is very proud of our in house manufacturing capability across the range of our product portfolio. Our factory, in East Sussex, manufactures uniquely for our business and we produce all of the sheet metal ductwork requirements for our projects.

Galvanised Ductwork

Since 2000, we have employed an innovative system which allows straight ductwork sections and fittings to be produced with a continuous girth flange formed from the parent material of the duct itself. The inherent strength of the flange gives the full range within DW144 of J2-J6, all with BSRIA certification. Non-piercing technology enables metal-to-metal joints to be achieved with zero leakage without the use of sealants or degradation of the galvanising on the sheet steel, which occurs using other methods such as spot welding. In addition, the smooth internal surface of the duct reduces the areas for bacteria to thrive.

This enables us to guarantee 50% of permitted leakage on low-pressure and 75% of permitted leakage on medium-pressure installed systems against the standard allowances set out in the HVCA DW/143 publication, conserving fuel and power and allowing better sustainability of the ductwork systems. This, together with the reduction in raw materials used, reduces the environmental impact of our activities as much as practically and economically possible, both now and over the years to come.

Our manufacturing operation is set up to minimise activities on site, ensuring a quick and efficient installation. We are able to reduce the number of deliveries to the site as our ductwork is prefabricated using interconnected flanges bolted together using a four-bolt system. We ensure that all items such as support rods and bearers are pre-cut in the factory and delivered to site with all other components as a complete package.

At E&S, we have the technology and ability to provide ductwork systems outside of the pressure ranges within DW144, examples of which are extract systems designed with a negative pressure or up to 2000pa, 750pa being the maximum in DW144.

Flameshield Fire-rated Ductwork

Flameshield fire-rated ductwork is a enhanced gauge non-coated ductwork system made from galvanised sheet metal on dedicated machinery, which enables the system to withstand fire tests to BS476 Part 24 and BS5588 Part 9 without the need for additional spray applied to the external surface. No spray means no curing time, allowing Flameshield fire duct to be produced on an even quicker turnaround from drawing production through to manufacture and delivery.

Flameshield’s non-coated system is also easily recyclable whereas other, coated products have to be disposed of in a controlled manner. Coating products are made from mined materials, require energy and water for application and cleaning, heat for drying and produce waste by-products. This has a negative impact of the environment. The estimated carbon reduction by using Flameshield

is, therefore, very significant when compared to other coated, fire-rated ductwork systems. Flameshield’s non-coated system requires none of the above which greatly reduces its impact on the environment both now and in the future.

All of your fire-rated ductwork needs can be met with a cost-competitive, modern, clean, environmentally friendly product which has no susceptibility to coating damage whilst being transported or installed. The product requires no on-going maintenance once installed, is aesthetically pleasing and has good turnaround times all year round.

Stainless Steel Ductwork

Stainless steel ductwork is a specialist product used primarily in laboratory, pharmaceutical, process and nuclear settings.

E&S are experienced high volume manufacturers of gas tight stainless steel ductwork, and our dedicated stainless steel fabrication bay has recently undergone significant investment, including high definition plasma cutter and automated welding machinery.

We have refined our manufacturing process to achieve an exceptionally high standard of quality by focusing on automation. Those ductwork components that can’t be welded by machine are welded by our highly skilled team of welders.

Due to the sensitive nature of these markets, we are unable to share specific project details. However for further information please contact us.

Environmental

E&S Heating & Ventilation Ltd is committed to the continual improvement of our environmental performance. We are conscious that we have an impact on our environment both during our works and then during the life of the project, our CGF ductwork reduces leakage and if considered early enough in the design, smaller plant can be selected. The Flameshield fire-rated ductwork is manufactured without the need for coating and is therefore more sustainable.

We minimise our environmental impact by setting clear objectives and regularly monitoring our performance against them. We aim to ensure that the environmental impact of our activities is as low as practically and economically possible.

Quality

E&S Heating & Ventilation Ltd is dedicated to quality and continuous process improvement. Providing our clients with a high quality ductwork service is the key drive for our whole team for each and every project. Our responsibility is to ensure that through our established quality management system, the level of quality provided by E&S matches or exceeds our customers’ expectations.

At E&S we are committed to ensuring that our customers’ requirements are fully understood and are courteously and appropriately satisfied by providing the right solution.

Corporate Social Responsibility

E&S Heating & Ventilation Ltd actively support and get involved in our projects’ CSR agendas. We support several local schools in their projects, competitions and career events. E&S also supports and contributes to the local town councils Hailsham in Bloom scheme.

Health & Safety

Ensuring the health & safety of our employees is at the heart of how we work at E&S Heating & Ventilation. We believe that both our manufacturing and installation activities must be carried out in a safe way thereby insuring the health and wellbeing of our employees, contractors and members of the public.

We are all responsible for the day to day safety of ourselves and those we work with, however overall responsibility sits within the management team. Like all our other systems the key to great safety performance is a continuous improvement culture challenging old practices and looking for new and better safer ways to work.

Training & Development

E&S Heating & Ventilation Ltd views the training and development of its staff as fundamental to the future of our business and a key to success. We are fully committed to supporting the continuous learning and development of our people and employing and developing a workforce that reflects the diverse society in which we live.

For our site team, we recognise the importance of formal skills certification. Our site supervisors all hold as a minimum NVQ Level 3 in ductwork installation, SSSTS, IPAF, PASMA, First Aid at Work and various manual handling equipment certifications. We insist 100% CSCS skillcard standard for both our own directly employed team and our subcontract labour providers.

We are keen to develop the skills of our technical and commercial teams and recognise the importance of both structured learning and on-the-job training.
