And that means you could find it hard to develop these skills or to transfer them from one situation to another. You may have no problem holding conservations in the staff restaurant, the gym or the pub. Carrying those skills into interviews, presentations, reports and meetings is another matter. What is communication? Many people think that it‟s about giving information. It‟s not. Communication is about communing. Scientists think that language - or rather, the languages of speech, body movement, gesture grew initially out of grooming. Chimps and other primates groom each other to establish and maintain relationships became more complicated, there simply wasn‟t enough time to do all the invented: language. Chimps pick fleas off each other; humans hold conversations. This view of communication helps understanding of why it so often goes wrong. You can‟t communicate once and imagine that the job is done. Communication, like grooming, is a continuous activity; we need to do it continuously. Conversations at work are never merely about facts and figures; they always include the relationship. There is a difference between humans and the other primates, of course. People communicate, not only to groom, but also to persuade. And the currency of persuasion is ideas. It‟s ideas that make things happen.

From the Editorial Board: Most people can communicate very well. But you may not recognize the skills that you use. And that means you could find it hard to develop these skills or to transfer them from one situation to another. Prof. S. Muthu Kumar is the head of Computer science and Engineering Department

with vibrant potentialities. During his journey of engineering teacher as on date he has attended very actively in the FDPs and Workshops more than six in number conducted and sponsored by various Engineering Colleges and Organizations under the supervision of Anna University of Technology, Chennai. Adding feather to the Cap of his intellectual quest, he has presented papers six in number.

Also he has published paper in CiiT International Journals on “Measurement of Denial of Service attacks using New Materials. Vol.2, No.9, pp. 359-364, September 2010. He has guided 12 projects in the UG level and 2 projects in PG level. In addition to his academic excellence he has been certified for International Auditor by TUV SUD South Asia Pvt. Ltd., after completion of Internal Training Programme based on ISO 9001:2000 held in June 2008.

He has attended and got the certificate for the programme organized by Anna University, Chennai and Wipro Pvt. Ltd. On “High Impact Teaching Skills” under the banner of Mission 10X. He has attended and participated in NASSCOM IT-ITE‟s Industry Academia Meet held 2005-2006 under the aegis during of the NASSCOM IT Workforce Development Initiative.

He has acted as a resource person in “Career Development Programme” organized by CSC computers, Aruppukottai in 2009 and Sree Sowdambika Polytechnic College, Aruppukottai in 2010.

Also he acted as a judge as a part of Silver Jubilee celebration, a state level technical

paper presentation contest organized by Sree Sowdambika polytechnic College, Aruppukottai on 30th August 2009 he has extended his service as a computer teacher to the external bodies by training them in Laptop for the three number of High Court Judges,Virudhunagar District, 60 number of Head Masters and 120 B.T. Teachers of various Higher secondary schools, in Virudhunagar District and also one hundred and twenty number.

He has organized three numbers of Inter Collegiate Level Technical Symposia and five number of Intra collegiate Technical Symposia. He possesses effective and intellectual potentialities in pursuit of teaching and research oriented qualities.

The programme was convened by Mr.V. Ranjith Sing, Software Engineer, Alketel-Lucent, alumnae of our college. The students spectated the programme got benefited. Mr. A.S.
