Hopeman’s Gala 2019 Young Citizen- Morven Reid
Nominated by her scout leader, Morven has been committed throughout the scouting journey, starting out as a beaver, then a cub and now as a successful
scout. She is an enthusiastic member of the Hopeman troop, leading by example to others, which is further demonstrated by her volunteering as a young leader
with the beavers. The younger members love to be on Morven’s team: she’s a very positive role model and through her quiet reserved manner demonstrates very
successfully that perseverance pays off. She also enjoys golf, once again sharing her caring side helping
younger eagles. She’s described as being the first to volunteer and always with the most infectious smile.
Well done Morven.

The Committee warmly wish you a huge welcome to the 45th Hopeman Gala.
Children under 11 should be accompanied by an adult at all events.
Much has happened over the last 45 years and we are extremely proud that the Gala remains resilient and strong against external pressures and that we are still able to provide fun and create memories for the entire family. Of course, none of this would be possible without the assistance of our extremely generous event sponsors and those who place adverts with us. Our thanks goes out to all of them! Once again, we hope that the week brings entertainment for all, mixing some new events with the Gala staples that we have all come to know and love. After all, the Gala wouldn’t be the Gala without Coffee Mornings, the Soup & Sweet, Fancy Dress Parade, Harbour Night and Craft Show. This year, you can also look forward to having tea with the Gruffalo, a special Harry Potter event and a Colour Run; these latter 2 having been organised by our very own youth committee. Youth continues to underpin the sustainability of the Gala and we are proud to announce Morven Reid as our Young Citizen for 2019. Nominated due to the dedication she has shown to her scout troop and for supporting younger community members, both at the local beavers and the Eagles at the golf club. Described as the first to volunteer and always with the biggest smile, Morven encompasses the essence of the gala; volunteering.
You may have noticed that tickets can now be bought online for our main acts throughout the
week at www.hopemangala.co.uk .These include our Breakneck Comedy Night and the Gala Finale. Other ticketed events including the Soup & Sweet, Tombola, Colour Run, Drumming and Piping taster sessions, Tea with a Gruffalo, Moo music, art and craft with the Creation Station and more. Naturally, all tickets will also be available from both Costcutter and Hopeman Stores and on sale in the hall on the gala sales ticket morning. Finally, we would like to thank you, the local community, for the assistance that you bring to the Gala. It really wouldn’t be sustainable without all of the home baking, tent sitting, brew making, fish cooking, friendly-blethering, laughter raising community spirit that you all bring. Your support is appreciated more than you could possibly
