Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

Genre: Drama

Rating: 5 stars

Review Written by Someone in Grade 8

When Lia's best friend, Cassie, dies, it is up to Lia to be the thinnest, even though she knows that she won between her and Cassie. Lia keeps her calorie count insanely low, skips meals, and exercises excessively. All of which makes her unrealistically skinny that she has to get weekly weigh ins, which she fudges the scale for. Soon her obsession with her weight becomes worse and she has to live with her mom to be monitored, so that she doesn't die from being too skinny. At the end of the book, Lia begins to recover from her anorexia. I liked Wintergirls because it showed the real side of anorexia.

The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan

Genre: Fantasy /Action

Rating: 5 stars

The Last Olympian is the fifth and final book of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Percy and his friends have to defend Manhattan and Olympus from an invasion of Kronos's army while the gods are fighting Typhon, the father of all monsters. Percy becomes invincible by taking on the curse of Achilles. There a lot of really intense battles and some romance too. This is a great book for all ages, but older kids will probably like it more. The other books in the series are The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan's Curse, and The Battle of the Labyrinth. All the books in this series are great!

This book is about the Romanov family's impact on Russia's history. It tells about the revolution and the autocracy. It also tells about World War 1 and their Allies. Though this book holds loads of history, it is still very entertaining. It grabs your attention from the beginning, making you want to know the tragic tale of the Tsar, Tsaritsa, and their family.

Rating: 5 stars

Review Written by Someone in Grade 8

Tinsley Carmichal is back on the Waverly campus after being expelled last year, and is rooming with Brett, Callie (her old roommates), and Jenny, the new girl from New York. Tinsley used to be the most popular, but Jenny is stealing the spotlight, something that Tinsley is not too happy about, and makes Jenny's life miserable. Jenny also starts to date Callie's ex- boyfriend, Easy Walsh, which Callie doesn't like, since she still likes him. Everyone on campus thinks Jenny's the it girl, but not unless Tinsley and Callie say so. Follow Tinsley and Callie to become the it girl on campus, and Jenny to stay as the it girl. I like Notorious because it really highlights drama at school.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Genre: Romance/Classic

Rating: 5 stars

Review Written by Someone in Grade 8

This book is long and a little hard to understand sometimes, but it's really good. Pride and Prejudice is about Elizabeth Bennett, who lives in early 19th century England. When a new neighbor comes to town with a couple friends, Elizabeth meets the rude, proud Mr. Darcy, who later falls in love with her, even though she doesn't love him. Great if you like romance or classics. I'd recommend this to people going into grades 8 & up.

She has to decide if she's ready for this or not, while still doing things as teen ambassador to the U.N. This is an ok book, but it’s basically all about you known what. This is a continuation of Out of Africa. It is a little more interesting, but not much. It is about her experiences within Denmark after she left. It is about how she tried to keep in touch with her old people. It is like and extended epilogue of the other book.
