PHILIPPEPETITA magician and the famous tight rope walker, who walked between the Twin Towers, Notre Dame, the Sidney Harbor Bridge, and more.

In his talk which is titled “The journey across the high wire” he tells the stories of how he became who he is today, explaining the struggles that each task presented to him.

He started with his first card trick. At 6 years old he learned how to make a card disappear. But the cards were to big for his hands.

He proudly showed his trick to a magician. To which the magician told him it was a disaster, and showed him how to master the trick, and told him to always strive for perfection.

Then he saw a juggler. In that moment he decided that is what he wanted to be a juggler. And was sold some warped clubs…

He then herd of people “walking on air”. Which then he taught him self the tightrope. When no one wanted to hire him he secretly set up tricks on his own without permission. Which came to him crossing the Twin Towers and others.

The one TED commandment that he followed without fail was to dream big. In his speech and life, that is all he ever did.

Philippe uses some words that applies to each story, passion, tenacity and faith. Not faith in a god, but faith that he would be able to get across and over the task that is ahead of him.

He did not lack passion or movement, but in some cases he got into a zone with telling his stories. As if he was there reliving them and almost forgets about the audience.

Philippe did not use a slide show in his performance. He did use the projector with some images and he could write and draw with it, which he used often. Drawing pictures and writing out the main point words. So it did not match with the slideshow conventions.

Philippe delivered his stories in an excited, exaggerated style. He moved around a lot and was doing demonstrations. Acting out his stories and pretending that the stage was really a tight rope.

The way that he delivered his speech was entertaining, it was in almost all ways a way that someone should work into their speech.

IN COMPARISON:

Both Philippe and Ken Robinson were intrigued and engaged in there topic. They both felt strongly on their topics. Both were very clear speakers and built comedy into their speeches.

THE DIFFRENCE?

Ken was direct in the immediate action that needed to be done with the school systems. His points were clear, he was not monotone, but not moving around the stage.

Philippe was very movement oriented, he juggled on stage showed magic tricks. He was not so direct being that his were stories of his life and how he succeeded not trying to change anything.

For the most important part of a speech is the passion on the subject. Being able to put feeling into a speech that you really and truly feel for makes it much easier to appeal to people.
