According to IAB, mobile ad revenue grew 83% to almost $9 billion during 2012. The driving force behind the impressive growth is rapid expansion in the services consumers use on their devices, despite an overall slowdown in smartphone growth. Search remained the biggest ad format in the mobile space, accounting for over half of all revenues. Display ads represent the second largest category, accounting for 38.7% of ad revenue and messaging represents 8.5% and has been in decline. Read the full article here.

According to CB Insights, investment in U.S. fintech firms from venture capital, private equity, and angels is on course to exceed $2.5 billion this year. Since 2008, just over $9 billion has been invested in fintech firms across 1,314 deals. Healthcare IT venture capital investing continues to increase to record-setting levels as 168 deals were funded in Q2’13 compared to 163 in all of 2012. With $623 million invested in Q2’13, VC investment in healthcare IT companies is now on pace to exceed $2 billion by the end of 2013.
