RSA Welcomes Mr. Monte Imming New Math Teacher Joins Our Faculty
Rochester STEM Academy welcomes Mr. Monte Imming to our staff as our new mathematics teacher. Mr. Imming is a Winona State graduate and comes to us with over 20 years of classroom teaching experience and has coached soccer and basketball as well. Poetry is Back with Artist in Residence, Frank Sentwali Frank Sentwali is the creator of Edu-Poetic Enterbrainment, a Twin Cities’ spoken word and music ensemble. Frank has spent years in the education system as a tutor, teacher and mentor.

What’s Going On? Personalized Learning in Reading, Writing, Math and Science and Personalized Learning We have finished up our NWEA MAP Tests and the results will be used to set benchmarks in reading and math for each student. The results of the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress give a RIT Score which informs the student and staff how the student is doing in terms of other students across the state and nation. Students will create Personal Learning Plans (PLP’s) which will set academic goals. using the DesCartes program from NWEA, students and teachers can readily identify skills that are mastered and skills that need improvement. From this we learn their grade level reading ability, Lexile, and we can set appropriate reading goals for each student. We continue to write during advisory period and generate student work based on their writing skills and goals as determined by the Flesch-Kincaid grade level scale.
On Friday, October 31, 2014, students selected the name “Cobras” as their school/team name beating out the other nominees, “Knights” and “Cheetahs”.
