Who are Exceptional Children?
• Students who are intellectually gifted or students who are physically or mentally handicapped.
• These students require educational or physical modifications and accommodations in their learning environments.
Will I teach these students?
YES!
How will I teach them?
Differentiate Instruction according to their learning
styles and their engagements.
What is Adaptive Technology?
• Any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially or off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.

How do I help a student with ADHD?
• Create a structured plan and STICK TO IT!– ADHD students must have a routine ! – Behavior Plan
Give them something to keep their hands busy while listening or completing work, ( stress ball, plastic coin, paper clip)
• Intergrade computers/laptops/promethean boards for educational games and activities

How will I teach students who are hard of hearing?
• Wearing a microphone transmitter for use with an assisted listening device
• Use visual aids to reinforce spoken presentations
• Repeat the questions• Keep your face within view of the
student and speak in a natural tone

How would I teach students with Mild Learning Disabilities?
• ELA/ Social Studies: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, graphic organizers, Leapfrog reading games
• Math: Manipulatives, flash cards, math games on the computer
• Science : Pictures, diagrams, hands on experiments, interactive computer programs

What else can I do to teach my students?
• RESEARCH!!!! • Collaborate with other teachers• Ask parents for suggestions and create a
plan together
