TECHNICAPS FACTORY
TECHNICAPS is specialized in the shaping and finishing of aminoplaste resin, a material of unique properties. This is the story of "BAKELITE" applied to the field of perfumery and cosmetics. This is the story of our company which, since the beginning, is focused on this raw material with perseverance, determination and passion.
Our raw material has a natural 1.5 high density, a cold touch, a very special sound, and, above all, is not derived from petroleum.
We wanted to ensure for our customers and workers the safety of our products through a proactive approach from cradle to grave.- We scientifically verified the amounts of volatile compounds emitted over the whole production chain.- We rolled out a Life Cycle Analysis in order to uderstand better their environmental impacts. Results of one of our most representative product is presented.

DEMONSTRATED SAFETY
Urea-formaldehyde thermoset resin is composed of three main ingredients.
Ammonia
WaterNatural gas
NH3
Wood
CO2 Carbon dioxide
Formaldehyde is a carbonated compound produced from methanol, which is derivative from natural gas. Our methanol is provided by United States and Middle East suppliers.
Cellulose is mainly paper pulp. Our wood grows in sustainably managed forests, PEFC and FSC certified
Urea, purchased in Spain, is produced from carbon dioxide and ammonia, which comes from natural gas too.
TECHNICAPS manufactures Caps, Overcaps, Lids and Jars for cosmetic, fragrance and pharma industry. We realize standard and specific shapes. Finishings are fully adaptable to our customer need.
Life Cycle Assesment is the method for evaluating environmental impacts of products throughout their life cycle. LCA is a standardized method (ISO 14040-14044).

CLIMATE CHANGERelease of greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, methane…) contributing to the global warming phenomenon in a 100 years scope. This may damage human health and ecosystems.
ABIOTIC DEPLETIONNon-renewable resources depletion represents mineral and fossil resources extraction regarding their scarcity at worldwide level.
ATMOSPHERE ACIDIFICATIONRelease of substances into the atmosphere leading to potential acidification of air, soil and water.
EUTROPHICATION Consideration of nitrogen and phosphate substances introduced into the aquatic environment. The intake of large quantities of these nutrients is responsible for algal blooms and oxygen depletion.
OZONE LAYER DEPLETIONConsideration of gases emitted into the atmosphere participating in the destruction of the stratospheric ozone layer which can cause damage to human health and terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
PHOTOCHEMICAL OXIDATIONUnder the effect of solar radiation, cerain particles emitted in the atmosphere combine into oxidizing substances known as « smog » above urban area. Smog can damage human health, ecosystems and cultures.

LCA CREDITS AND REFERENCES
We provide noble and luxurious packaging qualities without increased environmental impacts.Impact data will be available in the ecodesign tool "WINTED".
A COMPREHENSIVE UNDERSTANDING OF OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTSOur products are 32% plant-based from renewable sourcesThermoset resin production is the major contributor of our impacts, mainly due to the energy intensive consumption (natural gas) of Ammonia production process.End of life is not an important contributor, so absence of recycling is not a primary issue
