• Application of Geo-Textiles & Different Types of GEO-TEXTILES– Separation– Filtration– Drainage– River Bank Protection– Coastal Protection– Reservoirs and Lakes– Embankments– Soil Erosion Controls– Railway Track Construction
TYPE of GEO-TEXTILES
WHY GEO-TEXTILES USED ?
In Roads
In Railway Tracks
GeoTextiles serve as barrier and filtration materials permanently separating soil from water and ultimately prevent water pressure build-up, thereby preventing the water's flow from causing erosion.
How GEO-TEXTILES are Manufactured ?
• To manufacture Geo Textiles, most widely technique used is “Needle Punching”.
• Needle punching is the method of consolidation of webs by the repeated insertion of barbed needles into the fibrous web.
• The fibres or filaments are reoriented into the vertical plane in a way that tufts or stitching channels are formed.
