Dear Parents

Well done to all the students who competed at the MNC

Zone athletics carnival on Friday. Congratulations to

Wulaaran Walker, Jack Peachman and Tegan Evans

who are going on to compete in the North Coast

Athletics on Friday 2nd September.

We have just completed our second round of parent

teacher interviews which gives us all an opportunity to

continue to work together for the best possible

outcomes for your children. Please do not hesitate to

contact the school if you need to communicate

important information to your child’s teacher to keep

this partnership ongoing.

I am delighted that this term, our school, like many

other public schools in the state, will participate in a

Department of Education initiative: the Tell Them From

Me student feedback survey. The survey aims to help

improve student learning outcomes and measures

factors that are known to affect academic achievement

and other student outcomes. The focus of the NSW-

wide survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and

effective teaching practices.

You may remember that our students also participated

in a Tell Them From Me student survey in Term 1 this

year. Asking students to complete the survey twice in

one year allows us to identify trends in student

responses as well as track engagement and motivation

across the school year.

More information about the survey is available at:

http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents

A consent form and FAQs for parents/carers about the

survey is being sent home with students this week.

We did not win the award for our WAVES program, yet

to get to a State award is a real community

achievement.

It was great to see that two of our dads were

recognised for their bravery in a recent surf rescue—

Jason O’Donnell and Scott Balfour.

I am still currently on Long Service Leave, I will be

back at school on Thursday. I’d like to thank Ani for

being Acting Principal while I’ve been away.

Thanks for your support.

Cooking with Year 3/4

Intergen

Today in the 3/4 class we were cooking beetroot and

chocolate cupcakes, an impossible pie, beef and vegetable

stir fry and vegetable salad. I felt that it went very great. All

the groups were using up the vegetables in the garden. The

groups were working well as teams. It was all messy after

we cooked, we had to tidy up. The impossible pie wasn't

impossible after all that! In my group was Nina, Banjo,

Grace, Jalaara and myself. Our cooking group made the

beetroot and chocolate cupcakes. We got to eat all the

things that we cooked today. By Bridie Daly.

Indonesian flag) and to bring in a gold coin donation which will go towards helping

our adopted orangutan, Bunga.
