WHO IS WENDY?Team Wendy was founded in 1997 by Cleveland-based entrepre-neur Dan T. Moore as a memorial to his daughter Wendy, who passed away from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) following a snow skiing accident. The company initially focused on manufacturing and selling ski helmets before transitioning to designing and developing products for the military, law enforcement and search and rescue communities.

Team Wendy's mission is to research, develop, design and deliver the most innovative, protective and impact-mitigating products and technologies on the market today as well as research the causes and prevention of TBI. Wendy's name lives on today in the protective products and gear used by thousands worldwide, including the men and women of the United States Military.

WE INNOVATETO PROTECT.

Our approach to every problem is rooted in develop-ing a deep understanding of the issue at hand. We believe that by advancing the understanding of injury mechanisms, we can develop the most protective materials and products available. Our engineers and chemists strive to push the state-of-the-art in materials science, chemistry, and injury biomechan-ics. We also stay at the forefront of test standards, and since our inception have been actively involved on the helmet committee of ASTM International. We aim to advance the understanding of concussions and Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI). This will help us advance helmet technology, as well as create new test standards that ensure helmets protect against concussions, as well as more severe brain injuries.

We have also led a number of research initiatives, such as live blast testing, to understand the interac-tions of blast shockwaves with the body and head-borne protective equipment. This included developing a detailed understanding of blast physics and building instrumented surrogate headforms to measure the effects of blast overpressure.

RESEARCH

One of Team Wendy’s vital strengths is our capabil-ity to develop brand new material technologies. Rather than being limited to what is commercially available or off-the-shelf, this allows custom material solutions with optimal performance for each ap-plication. This material development capability fuels the product design stage and gives everything we do a level of innovation different from anything else available.

Our most notable development accomplishment to date is our patented Zorbium® foam. First utilized for ski and multisport helmets, it has transitioned into tactical and search and rescue helmets, provid-ing them with a signifi cant increase in blunt impact protection. Zorbium® has been incorporated into the only authorized standard issue helmet pads for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps since 2005. This has allowed the peak G threshold for padded combat helmets to be dropped from 300G to 150G, result-ing in a 50-percent reduction in the impact forces previously allowable.

In addition to developing new material technologies, we specialize in integrating these technologies into new product designs. This design process takes us from an idea through concept, refi nement, testing, and validation. Concepts stem from brainstorming sessions and whiteboard mockups, CAD drawings, physical prototype generation and preliminary testing. We optimize performance through advanced compu-tational modeling (explicit FEA) and physical testing.

Our expertise in material development and under-standing of user requirements has fueled the design process for many of our most successful product launches.

DESIGN

Team Wendy has demonstrated a long track record of supplying quality products and meeting and exceeding the delivery schedules of our customers. We are large enough to deliver on the most de-manding requirements, yet small enough to be agile and responsive to evolving customer needs. Our fully qualifi ed production processes include foam production, skiving, radio frequency (RF) sealing, fabric cutting, sewing and helmet assembly among other capabilities. Quality management systems (QMS) are in place to assure quality and consistency throughout each phase of product execution. We are also certifi ed to ISO-9001 with design.

LINER OPTIONSTPU HYBRID LINER

• The TPU Hybrid Liner was largely developed under the U.S. Army Natick Soldier RD&E Center HEaDS UP program. It utilizes a series of patented thermoplastic urethane (TPU) structures optimized for impact protection in combination with a crown sling. This allows for superior air fl ow and ventilation by creating standoff between the wearer’s head and the helmet shell. The TPU Hybrid Liner is resistant to wear and environmental extremes.

ZORBIUM® FOAM LINER• This liner utilizes the same Zorbium® foam that has been proven in the standard

ACH ZAP™ 7-pad system, packaged into a 3-piece impact liner with removable center channel to better accommodate overhead communication headbands, and a series of adjustable comfort pads using an antimicrobial wicking fabric.

The SAR ESS® goggle posts provide a direct mount of any ESS® goggle equipped with the Eye Safety Systems Profi le Pivot mount. The EPIC Air™ Combat Helmet Liner System takes protection to a whole new level. EPIC Air™ features the unsurpassed level of impact protection you expect from a Team Wendy Zorbium® helmet liner, with new features that greatly improve comfort, fi t and stability.

The updated (2015) design incorporates three main pads (front, rear and crown) for impact protection, an assortment of ergonomically designed comfort pads, and patent-pending Air Channeling technology to keep you cooler. Team Wendy’s EPIC™ (Enhanced Protection, Individual Comfort) Helmet Liner System represents a revolution in helmet pad protection and comfort. EPIC™ consists of a one-piece protective impact liner and 22 adjustable comfort pads provided in four shapes (oblong, trapezoid, tapered trapezoid and triangle) and two thicknesses (3/16-inch "thin" and 3/8-inch "thick"). The comfort pad set also includes four Ultra Grip™ pads for added stability and two sweat bands for moisture absorption. EPIC™'s design offers a signifi cant increase in protection at high-G impacts without adversely affecting weight or heat dissipation. REVOLVE™ HELMET LINER SYSTEM

Team Wendy’s REVOLVE™ Helmet Liner is a 3-piece impact mitigating system designed to be a replacement liner for most ballistic shells. It utilizes an array of engineered polymer structures along with a set of moisture wicking comfort pads to provide maximum protection, comfort, and stability.

The polymer structures are constructed from a thermoplastic urethane (TPU) material that exhibits toughness, abrasion and wear, and microbial resistance. The structures have been designed to act as the optimal crumple zone dur-ing impact – at the same time they provide an extremely stable, secure, and comfortable interface with your ballistic helmet shell. This design also provides greatly improved airfl ow and ventilation beneath the helmet to minimize thermal burden.

PERFORMANCE• REVOLVE™ exceeds the latest ACH blunt impact requirements (AR/ PD 10-02)• Multiple impacts across all temperatures (14°F to 130°F) result in average head

acceleration under 100G @ 10ft/sec, and under 180G @ 14ft/sec(Testing based on use of the system in standard ACH shells, may vary by shell type and manufacturer)

*The performance capabilities of this system REQUIRE a minimum 1/2" shell standoff from the head. While

this is the common minimum standoff recommended for both blunt impact and ballistic protection in most

The CAM FIT™ retention system utilizes cam-lock sliders for one-handed adjust-ment and secure fi t. The Boa® Closure System stabilizes the weight of the helmet by distributing a light, even pressure around the head, similar in feel to a baseball cap. TEAM WENDY STANDARD CHINSTRAP

The Team Wendy Standard 4-point Chinstrap incorporates a soft anti-microbial fabric in the chin cup and the nape pad to prevent chafi ng and skin irritation.Attachment points are nylon reinforced and compatible with current standard issue ACH, LWH, and ECH hardware, as well as most other common tactical helmets. The chinstrap is constructed using 5/8 inch webbing with anti-chafe, anti-microbial sleeves.

The chinstrap extender is commonly used by operators who need to extend the length of their chinstrap to accommodate a gas mask. Team Wendy’s Non-Ballistic Training Plates allow you to train like you fi ght without damage to life-saving ballistic body armor. The training plates are made from virtually indestructible, density-modifi able, cross-linked polyure-thane that will not crack or break when hit, dropped or impacted. Designed to replicate the weight, shape, curvature and thickness of actual ballistic plates, they are stiff enough to hold their shape, yet fl exible enough to easily insert into any carrier.

The chest plates measure 8.75” x 11.75,” weigh 5 lbs, and have a multi-curve shape. Chest plates come in pairs of two.

CAM FIT™ X2

COMING SOON The CAM FIT™ X2 retention upgrade is coming soon to the Team Wendy line of

EXFIL® helmets. It is the fi rst combat retention system to provide two headband routing options in order to accommodate communications headset clearance and personal comfort. The base system retains the acclaimed function and feel of the CAM FIT™ retention while incorporating the latest closure system from Boa® into an ergonomically formed nape harness. This system stabilizes the helmet by distributing pressure evenly around the head, similar in feel to a baseball cap. The CAM FIT™ X2 also includes a headband routing component, which snaps onto the nape harness and raises the path of the headband straps to provide more clearance above the ears. Installation of the headband router is completely optional and reversible. It is recommended for users wearing large ear cups.

The CAM FIT™ X2 chin cup and adjustment straps retain the popular form and function of the CAM FIT™ retention, which include a deep, suede-lined cup, a low-profi le side-release buckle, and locking cam-buckles which secure the length of each strap. This system will only be available on Team Wendy helmets.
