The standard E-Series plenum fans already offers a low vibra-tion design, but when faced with stringent vibration require-ments, Twin City Fan & Blower offers patent pending UltraLow Vibration (ULV) designs with a full spectrum dynamicbalance.

Along with the ULV balance guarantee, a full vibration reportis provided that includes a summary of banded spectrum lim-its, spectrum plots on 3 axes, a waterfall (cascade) plot, a time

waveform plot, and a transient capture (coast down) plot.

Space is often a key consideration in the selection of plenumfans, making the compact Arrangement 3 configuration verypopular.

The Arrangement 3 configuration is constructed with a bear-ing and bearing bar in the inlet, which will affect fan per-formance. These performance affects should be taken intoaccount to ensure that your system functions as designed

Twin City Fan & Blower, the worlds largest supplier of ple-num fans, now offers the completely redesigned E-Series, thefirst plenum fan to be AMCA licensed for sound and air inboth an Arrangement 1 and 3 configuration.

The E-Series offers the flexibility of two plenum fan designs, with each model offering its own unique performancecharacteristics. While every E-Series fan is highly efficientand quiet, you can choose an E-Series design option thatoptimizes the performance requirements most important toyour application.

The model EPF features a highly effi-cient and cost effective, nine-bladedairfoil wheel design. The high efficien-cy of the EPF will often allow theuse of smaller fans without increasingpower requirements. The EPF is an

    Arrangement 3 design.

The model EPFN features the same highly efficient, nine-bladed airfoil wheel design as the EPF, but is available in

Arrangement 1 or 4 designs without inlet obstructions.

The Better Sound Quality model EPQfeatures a twelve-bladed airfoil wheeldesign that flattens the sound spectrumand reduces the dominance of puretones. The EPQ is an Arrangement 3design.

The model EPQN features the same Better Sound Quality,twelve-bladed airfoil wheel design as the EPQ, but is availablein Arrangement 1 or 4 without inlet obstructions.

The EPQ/EPQN plenum fans offers unique performancefeatures that are beneficial for many sound sensitive and

higher pressure applications. The EPQ/EPQN features a twelve-bladed airfoil wheel versusthe nine-bladed wheel of our type EPF/EPFN plenum fansor eight- to ten-bladed wheels with most other competition.

The "Q" in the EPQ/EPQN designation stands for BetterNoise Quality. Noise quality is a subjective description fornoise that is less objectionable.

Looking at the sound comparison, you will notice that the type

EPQ/EPQN offers noise (SPL) that is more equally distrib-uted across all frequencies. This can be more pleasant to hearthan the sound characteristics of a nine-bladed design. Fansare often dominated in noise by the noise occurring at theblade pass frequency. (Blade pass frequency = RPM x Numberof blades/60.) Noise quality is improved by reducing the dif-ference in amplitude between the blade pass amplitudes andthe neighboring frequency amplitudes. The increased higherfrequency sound power levels on the twelve-bladed wheelsmask the blade pass frequency offering a better sounding fan.

Although the overall A-weighted sound power levels of thenine-bladed EPF/EPFN fans are slightly lower, the sound"quality" of the twelve-bladed EPQ/EPQN fans may bedesirable for the application.

A higher blade pass frequency allows for easier attenuation ofthe noise especially when installed inside an air handler cabi-

will move the blade pass frequency from the second octaveband to the third octave band. Acoustic silencers will normally

perform about 10 dB better in the third band.In addition to sound considerations, there are also addi-tional benefits to using the EPQ/EPQN at higher pressures.Selections over 8" wg static pressure are often near the peakpressure of the fan. The additional blades give a higher peakpressure and also add stability to the fan. Twelve smallerpassages through the fan wheel are more resistant to flowdisturbances on the inlet than nine larger passages. The EPQ/EPQN is thus more resistant to system effects when operating

at high pressures and the higher inlet velocities that accom-pany these selections.

Plenum fans are unhoused fans designed to operate inside offield-fabricated or factory-built air handling units.

The fan wheel pressurizes the entire surrounding air plenumin which the fan is installed, allowing air ducts from any direc-tion to be directly connected to the air handling unit enclosure.

This design generally saves space by eliminating the fan hous-ing, transitions, and diffusers within the air handling unit.

Plenum fans have found a ready acceptance in the air con-ditioning industry. In addition, the construction versatility, adaptability in the direction of the discharges, suitability forinternal isolation and application of sound panels, and gener-ally lower cost makes it a very popular fan arrangement.

Saves Space There are no housings, transitions, or diffusers

    within the air handling unit.

Efficiency Plenum fans can be as efficient or more efficientthan scroll type fans at specific operating points towards thebottom of the fan curve.

Lower cost Plenum fans are less expensive than scroll typefans.

Due to limited belt center range, NEMA slide base option is available on sizes 182 and largeronly. A heavy duty Twin City Fan & Blower designed adjustable motor base is available for all fan sizes.

    Models EPF and EPQ.

Arrangement 3VS is available in Class I and II with motor slide base for sizes 182 to 542. See dimensional drawing on page 33.

Arrangement 3VA with pivot motor base is available in Class I and II for sizes 122 to 542. See dimensional drawing on page 33.

Unless specified otherwise, units will be built for vertical up airflow.

Arrangement 3SM is designed to provide an economical and space-saving meansto supply plenum fans with motors mounted to the side of the fan frame. A motorslide base allows for quick and easy belt adjustments.

    Models EPF and EPQ.

Class I and II available in sizes 165 to 600. Motor limited to maximum framesize shown on drawing.

See dimensional drawing on page 31.

Direct drive Arrangement 4 mounts the fan wheel directly onto the motor shaft. This arrangement provides a compact fan/motor unit which eliminates belt resi-due and requires less maintenance than other arrangements.

For these reasons, Arrangement 4 plenum fans are widely used in cleanroom, pharmaceutical, and other critical applications.

    The best performingpleated panel filter

    guaranteed!

    30/30 High-Capacity MERV 8 Pleated Panel Filter

The Camfil Farr 30/30 has set the industry standardfor pleated panel filters. With over 45 designenhancements, it continues to provide the industrysbest value for medium efficiency filtration.

Setting the standard by which other pleated filters are judged, modern media manufacturing techniques andproprietary technological advancements ensure thatthe Camfil Farr 30/30 is:

Guaranteed to performat the rated efficiency, orbetter, throughout the lifeof the filter.

Guaranteed to lastlonger than any otherpleated panel filter.

Performing at MERV 8, usinga mechanical particle capture principle, the 30/30 willnot drop in efficiency while in service, as will otherpleated panel filters that incorporate an electret chargeto obtain a MERV 8 value.

Its radial pleat design provides the longest life andlowest average pressure drop, reducing the number offilter changes, so your facility will use less fan powerto move air through the filter.

The high wet-strength beverage frame and weldedwire media backing provide structural integrity in anyHVAC application, virtually eliminating the additionalcosts associated with filter bypass or filter failure.

Available in 1, 2 or 4 deep configurations, the 30/30

is ideal for commercial, industrial, institutional or anyapplication where the ultimate level of protection ofequipment and indoor air quality is a concern.

The Camfil Farr 30/30 has an Energy Cost Index (ECI)of five stars, the highest performance rating available.

    30/62

The 30/30 media is manufactured from a proprietary blend of fibers thatincorporate a mechanical principle of particle capture. The filter does notrequire an electret charge which would dissipate and reduce filter efficiencyafter minimal hours of operation in a system. The media is lofted to a uniformdepth to enhance the depth-loading characteristic and ensure the longest

life of any pleated filter available. The high-loft also offers a lower resistanceto airflow, so fan horsepower required to move air through the filter isminimized. Camfil Farr evaluates the quality of all incoming raw materialsto maintain product integrity as part of a rigorous quality control program.

Welded Wire Grid Maintains Radial Pleat Design

The media is formed into a radial pleat for uniform dust loading and full use of the mediaarea. V-style pleats will blind with bridging contaminant, when loading, preventingfull utilization of the media area and increasing the filters pressure drop, resultingin increased energy usage. A welded wire grid, spot welded on one-inch centersmaintains each radial pleat and maintains media stability through varying airflows.

    High Wet-Strength Beverage Board Frame

The high wet-strength beverage board frame, the thickest board in the industry,

creates a stable and non-yielding media pack. Filter bypass is virtually eliminatedbecause the filter fits securely in the filter holding mechanism. The media isbonded to the frame, ensuring that all of the air seen by the filter will be treatedby the filter. Diagonal support members are bonded to each pleat to maintainpleat spacing and add stability to the pack through bridge-style engineering. The 30/30 is guaranteed to 2.0 w.g. of pressure filter without failure. Costlyfilter blowouts and compromising of HVAC system cleanliness is eliminated.

The standard of the industry, by Camfil Farr

Used in many systems as a prefilter, the 30/30 extends the life of final filters by capturing larger contaminant and thereby allowingthe final filters to concentrate on moving smaller particles such as those that are respirable and can cause lung damage The

The highest media weight, more than any otherpleated panel lter, and uniform lofting for high dustholding capacity, ensure that the 30/30 will last longerin any HVAC application.

Rounded radial pleats, instead ofv-shape pleats, allow full usage ofmedia area.

Diagonal support members, glued toeach pleat at its apex, help maintainpleat stability and lter rigidity.

ISO 9001:2000 Certified Quality Contro l

Every 30/30 filter is identified on the frame with a unique manufacturing code that allows us to analyze every component ofconstruction, from raw materials to the point where the product is boxed for shipping. Filters are inspected for structural integrity,so they are capable of operating in the harshest HVAC system conditions. The adhesion of diagonal support members topleat apexes is inspected, so pleat spacing is uniform to provide longer filter life. Each media lot is laboratory tested to confirmconsistent performance and individual filters are submitted from each manufacturing facility on a strict schedule for ASHRAE52.2 testing in our world-class testing facility.

Select the Dwyer Magnehelic gage for high accuracy guaranteedwithin 2% of full scale and for the wide choice of 81 models available to suit

your needs precisely. Using Dwyer's simple, fric tionless Magnehel ic gage

movement, it quickly indicates low air or non-corrosive gas pressures eitherpositive, negative (vacuum) or differential. The design resists shock, vibra-tion and over-pressures. No manometer fluid to evaporate, freeze or causetoxic or leveling problems. It's inexpensive, too.The Magnehelic gage is the industry standard to measure fan and blow-er pressures, filter resistance, air velocity, furnace draft, pressure dropacross orifice plates, liquid levels with bubbler systems and pressures influid amplifier or fluidic systems. It also checks gas-air ratio controls and au-tomatic valves, and monitors blood and respiratory pressures in medical careequipment.

Extruded aluminum(6063T5) damper frame is not less than .080" (2.03mm) in thickness. Damper frame is 4" deep.

Blades are extruded aluminum (6063T5) proles.

Blade seals are extruded EPDM. Frame seals are extruded silicone. Seals are secured in an integral slot within thealuminum extrusions.

Bearings are composed of a Celcon inner bearing xed to a7 / 16"(11.11mm) aluminum hexagon blade pin, rotating within a polycarbonate outer bearing inserted in the frame, resulting in no metal-to-metal or metal-to-plastic contact.

Linkage hardware is installed in the frame side and constructed of aluminum and corrosion-resistant, zinc-plated steel, complete with cup-point trunnion screws for a slip-proof grip.

Dampers are designed for operation in temperatures ranging between -40F(-40C) and 212F(100C).

    Leakage does not exceed 3 cfm/ft. (15.2 l/s/m2) against 1 (.25 kPa) w.g. differential static pressure.

Dampers are available with either opposed blade action or parallel blade action.

Dampers are made to size required without blanking off free area.

Dampers are available in two mounting types: i.e., "Installed in Duct" or "Flanged to Duct".

Installation of dampers must be in accordance with current manufacturers installation guidelines provided with eachshipment of TAMCO dampers. (Note that all technical information available on TAMCOs web site at www.tamco.casupersedes and takes precedence over all information contained within the printed catalog.)

Intermediate or tubular steel structural support is required to resist applied pressure loads for dampers that consist oftwo or more sections in both height and width. (See TAMCO Aluminum Damper Installation Guidelines.)

DescriptionEquipment Spin-Glas Board is a rigid board manufactured fromfine, rotary-process glass fibers bonded with a special thermosetting resin.

Thermal and Acoustical Solution. Equipment Spin-Glas Boardcan be used in a variety of applications that require good thermal and acoustical efficiency in a minimal space.

Appliance and Equipment Applications. Because the glass

fibers in Equipment Spin-Glas Board are extremely fine, theycreate an enormous number of minute air spaces, making theinsulation highly effective for sound absorption and thermalproperties.

These glass fibers are resistant to the effects of moisture, oil, grease, and most acids. Because these fibers are highly resilient, they resist settling, breakdown or sagging from vibration. Theyyield readily to impact and protect facings from puncture or tearing.

Equipment Spin-Glas Board provides neat, square corners for animproved, finished appearance for equipment systems.

The inherent physical properties of Equipment Spin-Glas Boardassure ease of application. It can be readily cut with a knife andsecured with mechanical fasteners or adhesives.

The ACH550 Control Panel is a multifunction control panel with full graphic LCD display and multiplelanguage capability. The control panel can be connected to and detached from the ACH550 at any time. The panel can be used to upload and copy parameters to other ACH550 drives.

Run Indication and Shaft DirectionControl Panel Display Significance

Rotating arrow (clockwise or counterclockwise) Drive is running and at set point

Shaft direction is forward or reverseRotating arrow blinking Drive is operating but not at setpoint

    Stationary arrow Drive is stopped

LED IndicatorsThe green LED indicates that the power is on and the drive is operating normally. The red LED indicatesa fault. A blinking green LED indicates an alarm condition. A blinking red LED indicates a fault thatrequires power to be cycled off and on to reset the drive.

Fault IndicationsThe ACH550 Control Panel can display over 20 alarm and fault messages. The last fault and previousfaults (1 to 9) are retained in memory. The last fault and previous faults (1 & 2) also record importantdiagnostic information to assist in troubleshooting. Most faults can be reset by pressing the RESET key(Soft Key 1).

Parameters Application specific parameters are immediately accessible through a selection of start-up Assistants. Acomplete list of parameters is also available grouped by function in approximately 33 menu groups. One

of the basic menu functions can be used to display the complete list of changed parameters.Real Time ClockThe Operator Control Panel includes a real time clock which provides Day, Date and Time information, displayed in a choice of formats. The real time clock has a 10 year battery back up and provides time anddate stamping of drive faults and other events. The clock is also used by the ACH550s internal timerf i idi i l i l k f / l ll

When the HAND key is pressed, the drive starts and pressing the UP/DOWN keys can modify thereference frequency. The HAND (keypad) control mode is indicated.

When the OFF key is pressed, the drive stops and the OFF control mode is indicated.

When the AUTO key is pressed, the AUTO control mode is indicated. The drive can be started andstopped using whichever remote start/stop command has been configured, a contact closure applied tothe start/stop input, a serial communication command or a process feedback signal. In AUTO mode thedrive speed is typically controlled by the external speed reference input or by the PID controller.

If the HAND key is pressed while the drive is running in the AUTO control mode, the drive continues torun without changing speed, but ceases to respond to external input or PID speed reference changes.(Bumpless transfer) Pressing the UP/DOWN keys can modify the reference frequency.

If the AUTO key is pressed while the drive is running in the HAND control mode and an external startcommand is present, the drive continues to run and follows the acceleration or deceleration control rampto the speed set by the external input or PID speed reference. (Bumpless transfer)

Follow local codes for cable size. To avoid electromagnetic interference, use separate metallic conduitsfor input power wiring, motor wiring, control and communications wiring. Keep these four classes of wiringseparated in situations where the wiring is not enclosed in metallic conduit. Also, keep 115VAC controlwiring separated from low voltage control wiring and power wiring.

Use shielded cable for control wiring.

Ampacity is based on the use of 60 C rated power cable up to 100 Amps (75 C over 100 Amps).

Refer to the included tables for current ratings, fuse recommendations and maximum wire size capacitiesand tightening torques for the terminals. The ACH550 is suitable for use on a circuit capable of deliveringnot more than 100,000 RMS symmetrical amperes, 480 V maximum. The ACH550 has an electronic

motor protection feature that complies with the requirements of the National Electric Code (NEC). Whenthis feature is selected and properly adjusted. Additional overload protection is not required unless morethan one motor is connected to the drive or unless additional protection is required by applicable safetyregulations.
