Team PA: MC Advancement Quotas

All, The Navy Personnel Command is revising the advancement quotas for MC3 from eight (9.09%) to 45 (51%). An error was made while calculating the number of quotas and was caught after the initial release. The additional advancement quotas for MC3s is good news for the community, however, our advancement numbers noticeably declined from the last cycle. This cycle sees a 9.43% drop in MC1 quotas, a 25.87% drop in MC2 quotas, and a 39.43% drop in MC3 quotas. These drops are a result of less vacancies at the E4, E5 and E6 level. As of April 18, the MC community was manned at 100%. But if you look at the different paygrades, it shows some are over-manned. - MC3: 97% - MC2: 101% - MC1: 105% - MCC: 108% - MCCS: 74% - MCCM: 100% The E5 and E6 over-manning affected the quotas from this cycle. Looking into the near future, you can see that we are currently undermanned at MCCS and there were eight quotas for MCCS this year. Good advancement numbers for MC Khaki's open up vacancies down the paygrade scale. We expect November 2014 quotas to be a little better than the March 2014 quotas but I don't expect we'll see advancement rates as high as we did in 2013 for some time, especially if we continue to see excellent reenlistment rates and our rating manning stabilize around 100%. Even though the quotas have gone down, there is still opportunity. Exceptional performance, strong study habits and a desire to work hard in our community will always be rewarded.
