Environmental Mini Scripts, also known as Visual Reminders, were originated by Gail VanTatenhove and are used to engineer specific activities to encourage the communicative participation of the AAC user within that activity. Visual reminders help us remember how and when to use the AAC system and raise user’s and partners’ expectations that communication will occur. The example below demonstrates how icons from the AAC user’s system can be placed in the environment where they can be meaningfully used.
