A Few Words About …….. Audience – Who will read this? Purpose – Are you writing to entertain?

To inform? To persuade? As important as setting purpose to read – in fact, often influences decision about form

Form/genre – a report? a story? A letter? A poem? An essay? A journal?

Time – How much time does the writer have to create the document? What is the timeline? Most likely determines the length and depth
