The purpose of history as a subject:

• to contribute to the development of students as independent and responsible people

• to develop the ability of critical thinking

• to encourage a positive effect on the society and environment

History in our schoolschronological structure of history

Objectives of teaching history

selecting relevant historical contents

to encourage students to expolre, to analyse historical events, facts, information and people in a critical way and to develop their sense of objectivity

to teach students mutual tolerance and respect for other cultures and nations

Tasks of teaching history • students learn about major events • to practice orientation in space and time• to learn through different interpretations

of the past (documentary films, museum exhibitions, Internet, documents, historical books,...)

Teaching methods:

• verbal presentation• conversation • explaining • narration • reporting • reading and working on the text

Curriculum in elementary schools from fifth to eighth
