Teaching grammar can be fun
Erasmus+ course Preparation
Participants complete a detailed questionnaire before the course starts to indicate their level ofexperience and training. Support information, a pre-reading list and programme details will beprovided to the participants.
Objectives - Defining grammar and refreshing the participant’s knowledge. - Finding meaning through context. - Showing how modern methodologies support the teaching of grammar. - Acquiring methods that make learning grammar fun. - Improving speaking and listening skills with communicative functions. - Understanding how grammar can be incorporated into lessons. - Developing higher order thinking skills. - Exchanging experiences and good practices among people coming from differentcountries who work in the same field.
Methodology:
The course is structured into 14 training modules, beginning with a definition of grammar to itsusage in the four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Each module will incorporateboth a theoretical knowledge of grammar and the practical application in classroom situations.
Modules - Module 1: Grammar and the Communicative Approach, Grammar and Teaching Methods
- Module 2: Bloom, Higher order thinking skills and teaching grammar - Module 3: Games and fun activities when teaching grammar - Module 4: Teaching present tenses - Module 5: Teaching past tenses - Module 6: Teaching perfect tenses - Module 7: Teaching future forms - Module 8: Clauses (conditional clauses, noun clauses, relative clauses) - Module 9: Teaching modal verbs - Module 10: Writing Approaches - Module 11: Assessment and Correction - Module 12: Task based learning - Module 13: Using ICT - Module 14: Theatre and drama activities when teaching grammar - Module 15: Workshop, microteaching

Follow-up
Participants will complete a workbook either for their personal reference which they can updateon their return home.
A course manual will be provided.
A mailing list of participants will be created in order to exchange ideas/experiences.
