Technology Integration Rational • Fractions have many applications and are used in
everyday life. Technology allows students to better visualize and understand fractions. Math for many students can be challenging and frustrating. Using technology in the lessons allows students to take more of a hands on approach when learning. It also makes the topic more engaging for students.
• Students also have many different learning styles. This presentation teaches fractions using videos, manipulatives, worksheets, apps, and pictures to help students of various learning styles learn about fractions.

• All of the websites and materials used in this presentation have been checked and are reliably sources for using to teach fractions.
Video
• Kahn Academy Video • Kahn academy is a great tool for student to use
to help explain a confusing topic or reinforce what their teachers covered in class. Students can have access to it at home if they are struggling to complete a homework assignment or studying for an exam. This particular video talks about how to add mixed numbers.
Blog
• Ms. Giraffe is a teacher whose blog talks about different ways to teach fractions using manipulatives, various worksheets, and project ideas to help students understand the basic ideas of fractions.

• National Security Agency – This website is a good resources for teachers to help form
units to do with their students in all areas of mathematics. • National Coucil of Teachers of Mathematics – This is a good site for teachers to get lesson plans, interactive
apps, and other classroom resources to use with their students.

help understand fractions or any other concept they are covering in math.

• Kahn Academy – This organization provides videos teaching all
different lessons on math topics free of charge.

• On this website you can have students play games an practice adding subtracting multiplying and simplifying fractions. You can also choose different games depending on what level the student understand fractions. It makes it easier to differentiate for all students in the class.

• edHelper.com has many different types of worksheets that teachers can use to help teach fractions. The one that this link takes you to is a worksheet that covers equivalent fractions. It has the students fill in the missing number that makes the two fractions equivalent.

Teaching Materials- Lesson Plan
• This lesson plan has students work in pairs with fraction strips. The idea is for students to develop an understanding of equivalent fractions. Students will be given fraction strips labeled with 1/2, 1/3, ¼, 1/5, 1/6, 1/8. They will then be asked questions to help them understand how these fractions relate to each other. Students will be asked questions such as how many halves make a whole, or how many fourths make a half?

• This app allows students to practice many types of calculations with fractions as well as mixed number. The difficulty of the questions varies so the app can be used for students preforming at different levels. The teacher can also go in and create the questions for the students or they can have the app generate the questions.

• Travelang Online Translator (click for link) – Students who are English language can use this
site to help them understand word problems. • A Plus Math (click for link) – Students can use this site to practice fractions
with flash cards and games. It also offers homework help where students can check their solutions to problems. Teachers can also get worksheet off this website.
Subject specific internet resources
• This website is a resource for teachers, students, and parents to use to help better the students education. It provides puzzles, worksheets, lessons, games and glossaries to access to help students understand fractions as well as other various math topics.
Web 2.0
• Twiducate is a site that students and teachers can use to communicate with the whole class. A teacher can create a class network where the students can work together on problem, projects and share ideas and work with each other.

• This website id great for making rubrics for any type of assignment or project. I really liked how this website gave outlines of rubrics for various types of projects. It allows you to edit the rubrics and customize them to fit your own assignment.
