Domain 1: Career Goal
Career goals in your resume should state what you are looking for, share high expectations of yourself and others and describe the employer in a complimentary manner.
Clearly state your Career Goal at top of Page 1
Include desirable “soft skills” attractive to districts (energetic, enthusiastic, team-player, dedicated, loyal, goal-driven, passionate, high expectations, creative, etc.)
Describe the District in a complimentary way (progressive, world-class, values creativity, high standards, promotes diversity, etc.)
Domain 2: Credentials
Credentials in your resume should boldly share skills and special training, high GPA, and valuable certifications closely aligned with the position.
Clearly state your SKILLS near the top of Page 1
Highlight SKILLS with shading, color, or bold font
SKILLS and must MATCH district goals
Share high GPA and special training
Boast of multiple certifications that match the job
Domain 3: Experience
Experience should present a steady employment history without gaps that shows evidence of growth and new skills aligned with the demands of the job.
List all recent professional experiences (employer, dates, role)
Use bullets to share key responsibilities – try to describe not only “what” you did, but “how well” (growth, accomplishments, etc.)
You may group multiple instances of similar roles (substituting for many districts, for example)
Include volunteer or leadership experiences also
BE CAREFUL NOT TO ALLOW ANY GAPS IN THE TIMELINE
Domain 4: Appeal
Resume should be attractive and easy to read, using suitable fonts, colors and headings to pleasantly introduce a spirited team player who is ready to meet district goals today.
Use headings to separate Sections of your resume
Respect “white space” to avoid a “text-heavy” appearance
Consider the use of varied fonts, borders, or colors
Make sure each Section shares your enthusiasm
The TONE of your resume should be upbeat, proud and confident and not desperate, frustrated, deserving or entitled
