What are some properties of acids?

Acids are corrosive to metals, change litmus red, become less acidic when mixed with bases, and give off hydrogen ions in chemical reactions.

What are some properties of bases?

A base is

Bases are caustic to organic matter, change litmus blue, become less basic when mixed with acids, and accept hydrogen ions in chemical reactions.

When an acid is mixed with a hydroxide base, water is produced.

Neutralization describe how an acid and base reaction makes a salt and water. Salts are ionic compounds formed from the positive ions of a base

and the negative ions of an acid.
