Teacher Appointment Criteria VCD-P202: Photography Fundamentals Statement of Intent This document is intended to specify the required credentials for teachers presenting the IPFW Visual Communication and Design 202 course as part of the Collegiate Connection Program and to be a planning resource for the prospective instructor and the IPFW Department Representative (“faculty liaison”) who mentors and supervises the IPFW Collegiate Connection Program. VCD-202 is intended to introduce the student to the basic understanding of photography in relationship to both the fine arts and the application of photography to communication design. Basic use of the camera, dark room, and digital applications will be introduced. Requirements 1. To be accepted, teachers are expected to have a Master’s degree in the visual arts with a major in Photography, or a degree in Art Education with Photography as a discipline base Master’s degree in another field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in a relevant field. In rare circumstances, the department may accept someone with what the department considers equivalent knowledge and skill level. 2. Teachers must have been teaching Photography at the high school level for at least three years. 3. Acceptable teachers must have earned a master’s degree in Photography or Art Education with Photography as a discipline base, or another area with at least 18 graduate level hours completed in Photography or Art Education. 4. Teachers will participate in the student portfolio review exercises held once every semester in the IPFW Department of Visual Communication and Design. 5. Teachers will be required to attend the opening receptions of all senior exhibitions organized by the IPFW Department of Visual Communication and Design. 6. The chairperson of the IPFW Department of Visual Communication and Design will approve all course syllabi.
