The A & N Administration is giving more impetus to better port infrastructure facilities in these Islands. As a part of it, construction of

additional approach, extension and widening of berthing area and dredging in front of jetty at Neil Island has commenced and is

progressing at a faster pace. This is being done to facilitate easy maneuvering of vessels plying in the foreshore sector. Almost 50% work

of the project has been completed and it is expected that the entire project will be complete by March 2019. The fund amounting to Rs.

38.19 crore for the project has been provided by Ministry of Shipping under Central Sector Plan Scheme and the project is being executed

by the Andaman Lakshadweep Harbour Works (ALHW), informed its Chief Engineer & Administrator, Shri T.N Krishnamoorthi while

speaking to 'The Daily Telegrams' here recently.

Neil Islands is an upcoming and preferred tourist destination after Havelock Island and the new jetty extension work will facilitate

speedier implementation of various developmental schemes, generate employment and meet increased demands of tourism. The project

envisages components such as solid approach - 4.00X5.50 mtr, approach Jetty - 276 X 5.50 mtr, widening of existing berth - 40 X 5.50 mtr,

extension of berthing jetty - 50.50 X 15.00 mtr and dredging- 38593 cum. The project had become necessary as vessels encounter difficulty

in maneuvering/ berthing in low tides. The present jetty was constructed during 1980s, hence possess danger of getting grounded during

Speaking about some students from deprived families, Shri Modi said, through sheer

determination and perseverance they overcame all odds and stood out to be beacons

of inspiration to others. Shri Modi mentioned about two youth in US hailing from Rae

Bareli who prepared a smartgaon app which is connecting the villagers with the

whole world. Speaking about Pandharpur Yatra of Maharashtra, Shri Modi said, the

teaching of saints like Gyaneshwar, Namdev, Eknath, Ramdas, Tukaram are relevant

even today in educating the masses. He said, the teachings are imparting energy to

fight against superstition and their compositions like Bharud or Abhang gives message

of amity, love and brotherhood. The Prime Minister said, the teachings enable the

society to fight against blind-faith through devotion.

Prime Minister urged all to celebrate Ganesh Utsav with great enthusiasm and fervour

whole heartedly but insisted on keeping these celebrations eco-friendly. Shri Modi

congratulated Hima Das, who created history by winning gold medal 400-meter race

event just a few days ago, in the Junior Under-20 World Athletics championship in

Finland. He also saluted the determination and grit of divyang players Sundar Singh

Gurjar, Ekta Bhyan and Yogesh Kathunia who brought laurels for the country. Prime

Minister also remembered and paid homage to Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Chandrasekhar

Azad. He also paid his tributes to poet Gopaldas Neeraj who passed away recently.

Shri Modi said, every word of the poet can instill a lot of strength and inspiration in

NOTICE Whereas many applications are received for depositing of premium for the land

regularized during the year 1988-89 by way of regularization of encroachment

committed prior to 31.12.1977.

And whereas, it has appeared that the name of the applicants/tenants neither

appeared in the High Power Committee list nor in the Other than High Power

Committee list and the signature on the licence does not match with the original

signature of the issuing authority.

And whereas, many tenants/applicants having licences but his/her name is not

reflected in the approval list of HPC/OHPC list and they do not have any physical

occupation in the respective places.

And whereas, it has also appeared that in some cases licences are possessed by

the licencees but the case file are not available in the record room to get confirmation of

the genuinity of licence.

Therefore, it is brought to the notice of the licence holders to submit the genuine

documents in respect of the claims for regularization of their land within a period of 30

days from the date of publishing of this Press Note.

The application received after the stipulated period shall not be entertained.
