(fabrication laboratory) A small-scale workshop offering digital fabrication. It’s an open access, not-for-profit, community resource where anybody can invent and make just about anything. What’s in a Fab Lab? An evolving array of flexible computer-controlled machines that allow you to invent, make and share. You could print t-shirts, produce electronic circuit boards, program a computer or CNC machine an electric guitar. Where can I find a FabLab? KEVICC students are hugely privileged to have access to Fab Lab Totnes in their Design & Technology Studios AND, in addition to that, the local community are welcomed in on Tuesday evenings (in term times) to use the equipment and to benefit from our staff' expertise. And at no cost. How many FabLabs are there? There are now over 200 Fab Labs worldwide, linked to one another; open to local inventors, artists, small businesses, and entrepreneurs. Who set up this FabLab? Devon County Council opened the Exeter FabLab as part of their multi-million pound revamp of Exeter Library in 2014.
