MINAB AGM and Elections: 4th March 2012

All members are requested to appoint their delegates

to the General Council on the prescribed forms al-

ready sent but they must do so before the 5PM on 27

January 2012. Those members who have previously

notified MINAB Election Commissioner of their ap-

pointed delegates will not need to notify him again

unless any member wishes to make changes to the

appointed delegates. If any member needs a delegate

appointment form, please call the MINAB office on

0208 993 7141. In appointing delegates the members

must bear in mind that the Constitution requires that

at least 20% of the Executive Board should be fe-

males and, therefore unless females are appointed as

delegates to the General Council the Constitutional

requirement is unlikely to be met. Before appointing

delegates or confirming the appointment of delegates

previously made, members must make sure that the

appointed delegate/s will attend the AGM as proxy

vote is not permitted and subsequent change of a nominated delegate is allowed only for ex-

ceptional reasons.

The Founding members should file the names of their four appointed members each before 5PM

on 27 January 2012 too. If any or all of them wish to retain the names previously submitted,

then those will be their appointed members. By way of reminder at least one of the appointed

four members from each Founding member must be a female.

The members shall be sent a collated list of all the appointed delegates by 3 February 2012.

Members shall be asked to nominate no more than two delegates from the list of the appointed

delegates as candidates for election to the Executive Board and the Board of Trustees. There is

no requirement for a member to nominate persons for election but if they do they must do so

on the prescribed form which they will have received with the election papers. Again previ-

ously nominated delegates will not need to be nominated again. In nominating persons to the

Executive Board and the Board of Trustees, members must bear in mind the importance of

nominating females. Also nominations can only be made from the list of appointed delegates

and a member may nominate any person/s from the list. When nominating a person for elec-

tion, the member must ensure that the person nominated has given consent to the nomination;

undertakes to attend the AGM and also undertakes to send his/her profile consisting of no

more than 200 words to the MINAB Election Office.

Nomination forms must be returned by 17 February 2012. The MINAB Election office shall col-

late the list of nominated candidates and send these where possible with profiles of the candi-

dates to every member by 23 February 2012.

When the General Council meets on 4 March 2012, it shall first elect the Executive Board consist-

ing of 34 members – 6 of whom shall be from the Shia communities and 28 from the Sunni

communities with females from both being no less than 10 in all. In the event of there being

more candidates than numbers given here-in-before, secret ballot will take place with each

eligible person in attendance having the right to vote.

The Executive Board will then meet to elect Trustees (Office Bearers) – the Chair, Secretary and

Treasurer. Candidates for these posts are required to be from those persons who have been

elected to the Executive Board and not from those who are on the Board as nominated mem-

bers from the Founding members. Again all contests will be resolved by secret ballot.

The Executive Board shall also appoint four Vice Chairs – one from each of the nominated mem-

bers from each of the Founding member organisations. These four together with the three

elected office bearers form the Board of Trustees of MINAB

The election process of the MINAB is being conducted and supervised by Judge Khurshid Drabu

CBE who is the Election Commissioner appointed by the Board of Trustees and who carried out

the same role when MINAB was founded in 2009. Decisions made by the Election Commissioner

are final and binding.

CAKE INTERNATIONAL EXPANDS TO EXCEL LONDON

Friday 27th – Sunday 29th April, 2012

Leading event organiser ICHF Ltd are expanding their highly successful Cake International show to ExCeL in

London Docklands for the first time from the 27th – 29th April 2012.

This fantastic show will be bringing the best in cake decorating and baking to the London region for the

first time, following this year’s record breaking show at the NEC. Visitors can expect to see the very latest

cutting edge products and techniques from a huge variety of exhibitors from across the UK and abroad.

Other features will include a bakery theatre with top tips and advice from the experts, college displays and

lively demonstrations in the Cake Decorators Kitchen - showing all the latest trends and ideas in sugarcraft

and cake decoration. Visitors can take part in the Competition Classes and showcase their talents and

imagination. With a selection of classes there will be something for everyone, including novice and junior

classes for anyone under the age of 18.

Visitors from across the globe came along to the 2011 Cake International show at the NEC from as far

afield as Peru, America, Korea, France and Portugal. The show saw record number of visitors with an in-

crease of 32% on the previous record year in 2010.

Show organiser Simon Burns from ICHF Events said, “Following the success of our Cake International show

at the NEC we are excited to announce that we will also be taking this show to ExCeL in London Docklands

from the 27 – 29 April 2012. We have seen our visitor numbers at Cake International at the NEC dramati-

cally increase by 72% in the last two years and we hope that this can be echoed at ExCeL. The effect of the

revival in home baking can clearly be seen and it is from the popularity of this that we wanted to extend

our events calendar to include a Cake Decorating and Baking show in London.”

Cake International will also return to the Birmingham NEC from the 9 – 11 November 2012 with Crafts for

Christmas, Hobbycrafts and Art Materials Live running alongside it from the 8 – 11 November 2012. ICHF

Ltd is also launching their popular Creative Stitches / Hobbycrafts shows at Glow, Bluewater Events Cen-

tre, Kent, from 2nd to 5th February 2012.

Cake International – ExCeL, London 27 – 29 April, 2012 Open 09.30-17.30 (Sunday 17.00) Tickets Prices: TBC Buy tickets on-line at www.ichf.co.uk
