TAYLORSVILLE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH special edition

December 1, 2017

Dear First Baptist Church, Taylorsville Pulpit Committee:

I am writing to express my interest in your recent

posting for the fulltime senior pastor position at First Baptist

Church, Taylorsville. After viewing your church’s job posting,

website, and social media page, I was encouraged by the

profound and evident love you seem to have for one

another. Additionally, the importance that your church

seems to place on the necessity to proclaim the word of God

as well as teach and adhere to sound doctrine is also close to

my heart and of critical importance. For these reasons, I felt

led to submit the attached resume in hopes of being

considered.

My undergraduate degree in Pastoral Ministries, as well

as my experience, has served to teach me the sufficiency of

God’s word for His people. Additional, as I am nearing

completion of my Master of Divinity in Great Commission

Studies, my love for proclaiming and teaching the gospel has

only grown deeper. As a pastor, I prefer to preach

expositional through the Bible and I know the only thing I bring

to the “table” is the Word of God and to trust in the

accompanying power of the Holy Spirit. My studies as well as

pastoral experience have also taught me the value in loving

people well and investing in them, like Christ did. To that end,

shepherding and caring for God’s people is truly one of my

greatest joys. It is a privilege to invest my life and learn from the people I pastor, both young and

old. I long for God to allow me to plant my life amongst a people, serve them well, and shepherd

them for many years. I believe as a pastor I should be involved in my peoples’ lives as I visit with

them in their homes, have them in my home, comfort them in times of crisis, and spend time with

them during fellowships, etc.

Additionally, missions are very significant and close to my heart. I simply believe we have

been called to share the gospel with all people and it is my joy to share the story of Jesus’ love with

anyone and everyone who will listen. Additionally, the Lord has been kind to allow me to serve on

several short-term mission trips both locally and overseas. I was also able to serve on a team for

three months working with unreached people groups in central Asia. Recently, I have gone on

annual team trips to Haiti to train local pastors. It is truly a joy to visit with and see how the Lord has

worked in the lives of the Haitian people each year. Each of these trips have taught me much

about God’s work in the nations, the need for His people to be mobilized, and the necessity of

prayer. As a pastor, it will be of importance for the church I lead to be involved in missional efforts

both locally and globally.

I am excited to see how the Lord will continue to work in the life of First Baptist Church,

Taylorsville as you seek His heart for your next senior pastor. I understand your church may be

looking for someone with more experience and/or education. Although I have limited experience

as a lead pastor, I have had the privilege to serve and lead in various staff/leadership roles within

the church. I enjoy partnering with other staff and church members to fulfill our vision of reaching

people for Christ. It is my prayer that you would consider the attached resume.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Chance McConnell
