SPINDLE360

While at Spindle360, I made numerous Keyshot renders of existing products and products on their way to market but, that’s not to say I didn’t get to play around with a couple designs of my own.

The two concepts here were created for NextDesk, a power-adjustable standing desk company.

The balance board was to be used in conjunction with a standing desk while the riser was a more affordable option cut and bent from a single sheet of metal.

RUSTBELT RECLAMATION

What do Clevelanders do when a bunch of old homes are set to be demolished? They salvage the wood and bring new life to it through products of value and history.

I interned at Rustbelt Reclamation for over a year through what began as an interest in furniture design and a need to occupy myself during the months preceding my semester abroad in Germany that didn’t begin until April 1st.

In the end, I taught myself new skills and life lessons including SketchUp, professional photography, social media marketing and cataloging.

THESIS

Proposing the question, “what, if anything, would be left in landfills if everyone composted and recycled as they should?” I discovered the waste epidemic that is mixed material packaging.

Often used for food products to retain freshness or attract customers, packaging made up of multiple or fused layers, such as metallicized plastic, cannot be recycled or biodegrade.

I, therefore, wanted to create a product for a common item, in this case potato chips, that might follow along the success of other specialty kitchen appliances such as the SodaStream, that encourage reduced waste and reuse.
