ATHLETICS

Your varsity football team won their final game of the season Friday night by defeating the Lecanto Panthers 48-12. Great job boys!

Congratulations to the boys and girls cross country team for advancing to the state championship this Saturday!! Both boys and girls got 3rd place and Gabriel Laboy broke the school record in a 5k! If you see any of our runners please be sure to congratulate them!

Congratulations to Mimi Filkin on her performance at State for swimming on Friday. She placed 6th in the 100 yard butterfly and 2nd in the 100 yard backstroke. Great job Mimi!

Girls’ basketball is in need of managers. Any young ladies interested please see Coach Hawkins.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Central Florida Dreamplex is seeking current freshman, sophomore, and junior level high school students for its StarGazers volunteer program. The Dreamplex is a fitness and recreation center for children and adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. Only 15-20 volunteers will be chosen to be StarGazers, and the program will span one year (January-December, 2018) and result in at least 100 community service hours for each participant. First aid, CPR, and other training will be provided at no cost. The ideal candidate will be an individual who loves to work with children and is interested in therapeutic services, special education, or other related fields as a career choice. Those

chosen to be StarGazers will assist with Dreamplex sports and recreational programs, and will have the opportunity to shadow physical, speech, and occupational therapists. Completed applications may be submitted by email to [email protected] or dropped off at the Dreamplex, located in the Clermont Hillside Terrace complex (same building as Graffiti Junktion) Applications are due by November 6th.

tightwadMoney's Tight Word of the Day:This colorful American coinage from the turn of the 20th century encapsulates the idea of a person who keeps his or her wad of money tightly rolled up. Presumably, a tightwad would also be a penny pincher, who is said to pinch every penny before letting go of it, though to what effect is unclear.
